Any Interest.....
Ok I know you guys get into arguments all the time on why you don't use the old school wiffleball and what not, but seriously, would you guys have any interest in coming out to play in a Fast Plastic tourney? I know you guys aren't really about that but it looks like you've got a lot of guys interested in ball and would definitly put together a great team for a tournament. If you have a chance you should check out the Fastplastic website. And maybe hit up the message board.

Interest...not from THESE guys!
Rover, I have to tell you this up front...don't argue "real" balls with these guys. I've been there and they'll defend their style of play up and down, using "let's see video of YOU playing" as the basis of comparison.
Now, I am sure you are boggled at how a league that doesn't use a WiffleBall brand wiffleball and runs bases can call itself a "real" wiffleball league...me too! It appears that this "league" has taken the mystique out of a child's game (and let's be honest...it is) and replaced it with concerns about strike outs, home runs and baserunning!
BASERUNNING!
And yeah, I've heard the knocks that my league takes also...and it's okay. We ARE a bunch of dorks...we DO play on our dinner break...we DO have a shitty AOL site. It's cool, though. Unlike some leagues, not one of us thinks we're better "athletes" than we are (or aren't). We're not telling people to come take the "Carmichael Challenge" (whatever THAT is). We don't have to bring the fences in to justify to ourselves our @#%$ size.
Now, I realize I got off on a rant there, but I'll be honest...it's ALL an attempt to drum up interest in the fact that WifferBall is right around the corner, and we've yet to OFFICIALLY crown a Player of the Year.
So yeah...come on over and vote, it'll be fun to hear the criticisms.
Re: Any Interest.....
Thanks for the invite, but I think I've played my last game in California, though I can't speak for the rest of the guys in the league. I really don't think we'd be able to compete with you guys anyway, so you're not really missing out.
Lets do it
Whats up fellas, hows everyone doing? Lets get a team together and play in the preseason tournament in Tracy. It starts in late March. Talk to you guys soon.

Believe me, none of us in this league really think we are better athletes than we really are. We just realize that the dream of being in the bigs at 5-8 165, slow, white...and not much more than high school baseball talent, isn't going to pan out. So what we do is pretend that we are God at our sport, and that everyone should strive to be like us. This attitude does piss a lot of people off and all the challenges come out. So to "mock" all of these challenges, we issued a challenge of our own: "THE CARMICHAEL CHALLENGE." No one took this challenge, just like we never actually take other league's challenges.
As for not using the "official" wiffleball, we choose not to. We have ALL used that ball growing up, and sure it's fun to be able to throw a screwball, sinker, riser, and curve at age 6. As all of in this league have grown older, we find it more fun and challenging to actually throw these pitches by breaking our wrists, not by simply pointing the holes up, down or to the side.

I can't tell you enough how glad I am to actually get an intelligent response from you. I've gotten replies and emails from your cohorts that pretty much border along the lines of "no...YOU suck!" So...thank you for not falling into line with SOME people we have encountered.
Let's be honest with each other...we're both doing what we do to have fun. However, I get PAID to play MY game! We play at work...what more can I say?!?
You're only 5'8? Wow...they make you tiny out there on the left coast! I would love to have you come out here and play some WifferBall with us, but I'll warn ya: we're slower, whiter, and don't run.
Oh, if you DO make it to Illinois...bring that fella with the pornstache and the Katie Holmes obsession!
Re: Scottie C
Thanks for your replies guys. I respect you wanting to play the game the way you have the most fun with it. Because thats what its all about just having fun. I know we have had somewhat of a hard time in the past recruiting a lot of teams for our tournaments and since I noticed you guys like to play ball I thought you might want to come join in on the fun. If you guys change your mind in the future. Look up www.fastplastic.net/ for details on tournaments in your area.
