Anyone following the rod building threads or
am I talking to myself, which isn't a good sign...lol. Just curious if this is helping anyone or if I'm wasting my time here?
Personally, I find it to be interesting as hell. For me, its kinda like watching Norm from This Old House turning some scrap pine into an heirloom credenza. You know, neat to see the nuts and bolts of how something is put together, yet seemingly way beyond my meagre abilities. Whether you decide to press on, I've enjoyed it immensly.
BTW, Pudge showed me your entry in Bass Bets. Who knew you were a hero on the local bassin scene? I'll be sure to adopt a more deferential tone in the future.
Re: good stuff
Glad to see someone is paying attention...lol. It's really not a mystery to put a rod together, as long as you have the basic information and the proper guidance. Books are nice, but you can't ask a book a question if you don't understand something.
I will proceed then, but you better build a rod for your final exam or your not passing the class haha.
My significan mechanical achievements over this enduring winter were figuring out how to change the air filter and the wiper blades on my truck. And believe me, that was a stretch. I'm just auditing this class, and intend to leave the heavy work of rod building to the pros like you. I plan on utilizing that kind of creative energy by tackling smaller projects better suited for my limited abilities. I recently placed an order for a small vice, and will try to break into tying by making up feathered trebles before attempting some crude hair jigs.
Have I mentioned that I am deeply envious of your recent fishing success? Just curious, did you go to that place that you contend is the true home of the Massachusetts largemouth record?
rod building

Re: rod building
Looks can be deceiving, glad you gave it a shot and I hoped I helped. To anyone else waiting for the next piece, I've been up to my ears in work, but should be able to get something up shortly.
