Arlington National Cemetary I wrote this for class right after our 8th grade class trip to Washington D.C. in May, 2004. It's about, in case you haven't noticed, Arlington National Cemetary. One man can change th course of history One man can change the future. One man can make the present worth a challenge. One man can make life worth living. But when there are many, history will never be the same, the future will be different, challenges will be sure to follow, and life will be worth living. Many fought in the Civil War, the World Wars, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. They all gave America something more than victory. The men and women who fought in wars, they taught us the truth: freedom doesn't come free. These words are engraved at the Korean Memorial, but I think they should be engraved at Arlington National Cemetary; because, in truth, that is where the men and women who fought for freedom are buried. Arlington National Cemetary was a place that none could replace. You couldn't pay any money or give any materials to learn what this place means to a person. This place, this Cemetary, it's not just where men and women are buried. There's so much more to it. Only a soul could explain, only a heart can tell, not the mind nor the ear could hear enough to make you understand what Arlington really means. Arlington is the place where gallant young soldiers are burried. Many fought and came back home either alive and wounded or mentally scarred; but so many more fought and never made it home at all. They were too afriad to sit at home and watch their families, friends, and companions fight and never come back; instead they overcame their fear of sacraficing their lives. The people who fought and never made it home, the people who fought, died, and were recovered, maybe, just maybe, Arlington proved to the world that they were the ones that made a difference. |

Re: Arlington National CemetaryQuote: yeah! .... tho maybe that should really be 'one person' (?) .... seems like you write pretty well, anyways ...."Arlington National Cemetary" prob'ly doesn't mean that much to me, as i live in another country, and prob'ly another world too, i think .... but i still feel your writing .... Quote: good stuff! and ok ... in view of CV's prolonged abscences lately, s'pose i could say 'welcome' ... so welcome to the Butterfly board ... |
