I got this book a few weeks ago and had to try the puppy out. It's a keeper folks.
Now the info:
BESM is a roleplaying game using a more point driven system than core standard, due to the simple fact it's meant to allow you to do anime sytle games. Because of this equal coverage is given to modern, sci-fi and fantasy! With about 20 character classes that range from the noble Samurai to the Giant Robot!
You pay for your abilities and then may buy special attributes, these attributes range from minor abilities like more skill points to super powers that would be at home in Dragon Ball Z. Make no misake this game requires GM attention during character creation!
Now as for my campaign, it's a mixed sci-fi magical setting. So far the characters have been adventering alongside railgun wielding solders of the Kingdom of Danite to fight off the monster hoardes. So far I have been able to mix things from the core books, several splat and Forgotten Realms books wothout a single glitch!
A truely worthy system. Just think now you can make that character based off... Whoever, just as you intended, anime sytle.

Well Guardians of Order have proven their intention to support this product. They released 3 series books (Trigun, Helsing, Slayers), a support book (Mecha D20) and are releasing several campaign settings (Knights of Alpha Centurai and a fantasy setting in the next couple months).
On Slayers, it shots the power level up, way up. This of course is in the spirit of the series. It also brings a new magic system to the fore which is interesting in and of itself.
Mecha D20, like giant robots? Like spaceships? Or even just bikes and cars? This is the book for you, a complete book on how to build any machine on a point system. It can be complex and spaceships are frigtheningly expenisive, but all in all not a bad book.
