Brandon
Name: Brandon

Age: 18

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Previous Occupation: Knight

Appearance: 6'0, Black hair, Dark brown eyes. His iron-plated armor is that from a royal kingdom, as seen by the crest on the shoulder plate. The former luster of the armor is somewhat diminished by the various bloodstains covering it.

Continent Origin: FF1

History: Although a seemingly small, peaceful town, the people of Myridia knew nothing of what truly went on behind the veil that the King had so carefully created. Perhaps it was best that the King, a wise and noble ruler, never chose to tell his people of the impending forces that had mysteriously started attacking from the Northern hills just recently. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to live in fear. Of course, most townsfolk knew that there was something going on, but so long as they didn't hear about war of any kind it wasn't any of their concern.

Of course, it was up to the Royal Knights to keep everything under wraps, and to protect the small town with their lives. Specially trained, the army had no trouble in disposing of any foreign troops that decided to invade their town, although such invasions were few and far between. However, the legions that had recently been attacked were like none they'd ever come across, covered head to toe in black armor, with a strange crest engraved into each of their shields. Although the Myridian army was able to take them down, it was a long, hard battle, and quite a few casualties were made in the process.

"Everything," the king simply told the now worried town "is under control."

For months, no other attacks took place. The King sent out groups of knights in search for this mysterious kingdom to the North, however they all returned empty handed. The peace made the King, and the royal subjects feel at ease, but they all knew it couldn't last.

As if from nowhere a large sound erupted from the North on a cold, November morning. The knights were immediately sent out on the battlefield, and waited, somewhat nervously, for whatever was awaiting them on the other side of the hills. Hundreds of the Black Knights came pouring over the hills, looking like nothing more than a large black mass quickly speeding towards them. The King's knights fought long and hard as the forces pushed against them, and it appeared that they would once again prevail. Suddenly the sky began to grow dark, as a large black figure blocked out the sun. The battle suddenly came to a halt as even the black knights were confused by the sudden turn of events. As all of them, both good and evil stood on the battlefield; a large black light suddenly came towards them.

As it came down, they simply watched. What more could they do?

Brandon awoke to the sound of raindrops falling softly around him.

Darkness….

...Pure darkness.

It was all the young knight could see as he slowly opened his eyes. A large, ominous cloud covered the entire battlefield, which was strewn with the other soldiers' bodies.

...All of them were dead; Most appeared to have been ripped apart by the blast.

He stood to find that his leg had been injured...quite badly, so he quickly tore off a piece of a nearby flag, wrapped his leg with it, and began to limp back towards the town to tell the King of the horrible news.

Upon arriving to the town gates, it was clear that whatever had attacked them had also came for the village. The gates were twisted in such a way that no mortal being could have done, and the stones around it appeared to be corroded and decaying. Fearing for the worse, he slowly stepped through.

Nothing was left. Not one single building stood among the now barren wasteland, and blood covered almost every inch of the ground. The once glorious castle was nothing but rubble now, along with various suits of armor, and swords, all of which were beyond use. Among the chaos he noticed a small silver box, which appeared to be unscathed. As if against his own will, he slowly stepped over the destruction and opened it. Only a small amulet, which appeared to once be a part of a necklace, was inside. "Jordan, Princess of Guardia" was engraved on the top. He pocketed it.

The grim realization that he truly was alone made him incredibly uneasy; Only one soldier, in a town once populated by hundreds. Gone was the life he'd known, he could only assume his family was dead.

The only option was to leave and start out through the vast wasteland now surrounding his town. His sword appeared to have taken quite a bit of damage, and he could only hope he didn't encounter anything before he reached his destination.

The Myridian knight took one last look back at his town, and slowly began to trudge through the rain to the South.
