Character
We all write about our favorite tried-and-true soap heros and heroines (or anti-heroes, as the case may be), but we often create completely new characters to interact with our beloved, well-known favorites.

Question is, do you prefer writing for a character that you know well that someone else has created (and you already know has a fan base) or do you prefer creating new characters for your work, hoping that your audience will grow to love or hate them as much as you do?

What kind of pressure do you feel when writing for a well-known character as well as in creating someone completely new?

What kind of preparation do you go through in creating new characters/writing for existing characters?
