Re: Favorite Amatuer Skaters
Most of my favorites have now retired from eligible skating, too, but I still have a few left:
Men: Takeshi Honda and Jeff Buttle
Ladies: Strangely enough, I don't really have a favorite eligible ladies skater right now (and I seem to be one of the very few skating fans out there who doesn't). I like a lot of programs from the current eligible ladies, but none of them really stand out as a favorite, though...but considering how many flame wars on other boards have broken out between fans of ladies' skaters, maybe that's not such a bad thing. I am hoping to see great things from Joannie Rochette this season, though.
Pairs: Langlois and Archetto...great to see so many other fans of theirs on this board, too! It's a shame neither of their 2003 Worlds programs were televised in the U.S.--definitely their best performances of the season (maybe ever) and, IMO, deserved even higher than 5th place. Hopefully they'll get the respect they deserve this season, though!
Dance: Unfortunately, now that B&K and (possibly) D&V have turned pro, I don't have too many favorite eligible dance teams anymore. I just don't like the way eligible ice dance seems to be going these days...too many over-the-top dramatics and not enough actual dancing. I do really like Belbin and Agosto, though--they seem to be one of the few ice dance teams out there with a style truly their own.
Re: Favorite Amatuer Skaters
If Alexei is still elligable....
Alexei, Takeshi {I think he's very underrated even with his winnings} Jeff Buttle
Sasha Cohen...there's someone else....but for the love of God I can't remember her name, lol.
Megan Wing and....errr I'm drawing a blank on her partner's name}
and as for pairs....I can't think of anyone right now.

Re: Favorite Amatuer Skaters
Pairs: Langlois and Archetto are top of my list for sure. Putman and Writz and Shen and Zhao
ladies: Jennifer Robinson, Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Fumie Suguri, Annie Bellemare and Joannie Rochette.
Men: Takeshi Honda, Jeff Buttle, Fedor Andreev and Timothy Goebel... I wish I could say Kurt and Steven but I can't
Dance: Now that Bourne and Kraatz retired dance will so not be the same but there are a few I still like: Belbin and Agosto, Wing and Lowe, Debreil and Lauzon

Re: Favorite Amatuer Skaters
bella77, Megan's partner is Aaron Lowe. And I'm in the same boat as jcspkbfan where ice dance is concerned ... it's been so overly dramatic and frenetic for so long now that, other than Shae and Vic and a couple of other teams, I watch it only casually. What made teams like Torvill and Dean & Wilson and McCall so great was that they actually danced on ice!!
Thanks, lol. I do agree that most of the ice-dancing teams are a little too dramatic for my tastes. I think that's one of the reasons why I like Wing & Lowe....I find them so carefree on the ice. They stand out to me and they're so much fun to watch.
