Gods in My Heart, by Ani Osiris
This was written by an online friend who is no longer with us. Most of the regular members here knew Ani and some may remember this piece. Ani shared it at another online forum and i liked it so much i copied it and saved it to my computer. It was a very pleasant surprise to come across it a few days ago, especially since much of Ani's archived writings that had been saved in various online forums were lost in ezboard's attack/data loss in May of this year. I'm sharing this here in the hopes that others will enjoy it as much as i do.

Gods In My Heart
by Ani Osiris

Ma’at, I have learned your name. Your name is the warm wind in the cottonwoods tall
above the stream. I sit on the bank in the coolness of thought and listen for the
fluttering of leaves. I lean my head back and feel your light feathered caress on my
throat as you pass. I smile.

Horus, I have learned your name. Your name is the watery song of the mockingbird
spiraling up from deep in the moonless night. I float in the navel at the instant of
eternity and wait for the swell of laughter. I emerge through the arch of my brothers’
arms and step into the circle as you light the fire. I dance.

Anubis, I have learned your name. Your name is the silent rhythm of the owl in flight
before the hunter screams. I wake in the twilight of the between with the whispering
shades and watch for the stranger’s silhouette in the open door. I wrap the shroud about
my fear and step into the night as you take my hand. I dream.

Osiris, I have learned your name. Your name is the honey-gold light of the falling sun
spreading out beneath the lowering thunderhead. I grieve in the ecstasy of momentary
light and sing for the loneliness in grace. I hide in the folds of Nut’s gown and
remember my birth as you die. I promise.

Isis, I have learned your name. Your name is the slope of the woman’s hip rising beneath
the sheet like the Mu’at. I lay in quiet with your thigh as my pillow and breathe in the
scent of lotus on the water. I rise with the radiant heat in my face and walk naked into
your heart as you beckon. I believe.

Nephthys, I have learned your name. Your name is the crystal-smooth stillness on the
shoulders of the waterfall. I hover above the rolling edge of truth and long for the
chill plunge into the clarity of paradox. I blink and glimpse the soul in the
mirror bright pupil as you open your eye. I understand.

Ra, I have learned my name. My name is the magnesium white flash of creation in the
mouth of Temu. I strike the spark and bathe in the impossible light to burn away my
self. I push through the mound of ash and spread my flame feathered wings as I become
the becoming of the gods in my heart. I love.
