Help finding book
Trying to find this book for a long time. Its driving me nuts.
The hero is some kind of a ghost hunter. One evening a client came to the hero's townhouse [in London?], saying that he thinks that his home is haunted and would the hero investigate? He's concerned that his family might be in danger. So far there were a couple of attempts on their lives. The hero travels to this home that is located in an isolated English location - something like the Yorkshire moors [think of Sherlock Holmes in HOUNDS OF BASKERVILLE].
The hero meets the heroine who is quiet, sweet and very intriguing - she's the nanny to the client's children. He falls for her on the spot. Anyway, she helps him with the investigation. Eventually the hero discovers that there IS a ghost, not someone who pretends to be a ghost to terrorise the family. I don't remember how he solves this but the heroine saved his life by preventing the ghost killing him. When the family thanks him for saving their lives, etc., he says If it wasn't for [the heroine], he couldn't pull it off. The family looks at him stunned and says, that the heroine has been dead for over twenty years.
It's a bit like the film SIXTH SENSE - clues were there through the story, e.g. the heroine wasn't around when a relative was around.
When the hero returned home, he was devastated because he was truly in love with her. I can't remember what or how happened, but they did have their HEA
