I scratched my head and the answers were gone There's a line in the Dave Matthews Band song "Spoon" that goes: On my way came up with the answers I scratched my head And the answers were gone Does this ever happen to you? It has become the story of my life lately ... whether it's philosophical ponderings, a piece of a new poem forming, or an essay-type topic or journal entry I want to sit down and write about, I find that over and over I have an idea that sparks my interest and even excites me but before I can even think about it, it's gone.

and it's gone
I have very little memory of use, I blame the drugs
  so when I get a world shaking idea, I speak it into the voice recorder of my phone, then I have a record! ~~~~~~~ Question? If Dave is wearing Rubber Gloves when he scratches his head does he erase the answers? taoboy

Re: and it's gone Funny you mentioned the voice recorder of your phone, because only a few minutes after I wrote this I wondered if I should get one of those little micro-recorders, but I know I wouldn't carry it with me all the time even if I did. My phone's voice memory isn't that large but I could try that. Do you ever listen to something you've recorded and wonder wtf you were talking about? I do that with my writings sometimes, when I jot down a few lines or words to ponder over later and come back to it and have no clue what the heck I was thinking. |

Re: I scratched my head and the answers were gone Yeh I think it's an awesome line too Saphire, and I like the whole song ... Alanis Morrisette sings some parts on that one. It's from the "Before These Crowded Streets" cd which is almost always in a cd player here. I think a lot of DMB's music has that universal theme to it. |
