Loud pipes!
Well, it's done! Not even 3 months that I own my new car and I already got pulled over by the cops.
It was last night at 2 in the morning on St-Johns boulevard. I think it was the end of a road block or something cuz there was about 10-12 cop cars.
One cop tells me to pull over and shut my engine off. She asks me a bunch of questions about my car and the mods. She takes my license and papers and everything seems fine...until 2 other cops come around and start looking under my car! Anywayz, to make a long story short...performance exhaust is ILLEAGAL!!!
Even if you get the muffler inspected, in 100% of the cases the mufflers qill be ok, but it's the SOUND that's illeagal. When a cop askes you to start the engine and rev it at 3000 rpm, you know there is a problem!
I recieved a nice white piece of paper with a $136 fine on it!!!
I wasn't alone though...a nice red civic also got pulled over!
So, i's basically to let you guyz know that you have to be carefull out there and what you do to your car!
Also, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, if you lower your suspension, YOU HAVE to get the car inspected to see if it's safe and/or meets standard regulations. After this inspection you will recieve a signed paper indicating that everything is OK so you won't get a ticket...Cuz if you don't have this paper, your car can be towed on the spot...no questions asked!

Damn donut eaters!!!! This sucks man but I thought you couldn't get a ticket for loud exhaust on a car, because there is no regulation. I Know that motocycles have certain number of decibels you shouldn't go over!!! Anyway inform your self maybe you can fight this!

Yeah I also didn't think that there was a regulation on the sound, but I guess you learn something new each day!
The cop that gave me the ticket told me that, during the Summer, he pulled over and gave tickets to about 100 cars for illeagal exhausts!!! And he also added that EVERY time someone contests it, they lose cuz it's a fact that if they are not stock, it's not legal.
Anywayz, that's the way it is :-(

illégale exhaust
dsl pour toi joey !!!! c platte que les cops cours après ns autres de meme!! mais je connais plusieur personne qui on recus des tikets pour leur exhaust!!! et pis la meme question revient tjrs quand ils vont contester "est-ce que c'est l exhaust d'origine??" faque yen as un qui a eu une idée !! tu prend un exhaust d origine pis tu le vide tu enlève tout dedans donc il peuvent pas dire que c illégal pcq c l exhaust d origine la seul facon de prouver que l exhaust est trop bruyant c de tester avec la machine a décibel...et ils l ont rarement avec eux !!!!

C'est un cas perdu si tu ne connais pas de mécaniciens pour aller en cour avec toi!
Moi je trouve ca ridicule...je ne fais pas de vitesse, je ne boie pas mais je me fais toujours coller pour cette niaiserie la!
Pis l'idée que le bruit est trop fort me dépasse tellement, car il y a plein de chars (ex:mustangs) qui font plus de bruit STOCK que moi MODIFIÉ!!!

A pain I know all too well Joey. As you may have guessed my Olds could wake the Dead( I love the sound of a modded V I've been pulled over many times. I had to go for inspection(48 hours) but I never got a fine. Maybe I was lucky, maybe the cop like my ride.

Hey Joe some new news on what I told you! I was right about the whole "they need a decible tester"! A buddy of mine got pulled over in his rsx and we got out after they cops pulled us over on st.johns after work on saturday and they start with the regular bull shiat about this just a inspection stop??? wtf is that inspection stop! So dumb ass says to pop the hood of his car and they look and there like pointing to all this @#%$ and are like "is this a super charger?...hiow about this...and this! And it was so funny cause it was the throttle body then the headers ext.So funny then the cop has the nerve to tel him that his muffler illegal because it a resonator! We both laughed and asked for his mechanics licens then he said he didnt have one but he knew enough about cars that he knew this was an elligal muffler! Well my friends almost got an instant ticket casue he said "you dont even know the difference between a header and a turbo and your a expert?" Man that was funny! But in long run the cop was @#%$ cause he has a bill that says it a muffler not a resonator and as well the cop had no decible meteer and was like we dont have one and i dont need one but then he called in and guess what..... Have a nice night boys! that was it no ticket and @#%$ all happened! Fugling cops .... think they know @#%$ about all the cars!
