Love in the Rain by Philip Appleman I've said this a lot before; probably will say it many more times again: I adore Philip Appleman's poetry. His writings are so varied -- some deal directly with the negative effects of fundamentalist religious thinking on society, some focus on the human condition from a humanist/secular perspective, and most celebrate the beauty of life. Usually when I share his poetry, it's the more blatantly secular and humanistic ones I share, as they are the ones that often speak to me the most. This time I'd like to share one just because it's fascinating, beautiful, and very sensual. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Love in the Rain by Philip Appleman In the primitive green of midnight it is weather for ducks: mallards are swimming through clover, teals wading in crabgrass; herons stalk the deep grass stabbing for minnows, swans are cruising the garden, sandpipers sway through sand; it's a jungle out here, frogs one jump ahead of the cranes, worms waiting for cranes in the hungry earth; |

Ooo, I liked that alot alot. I can see why you wanted to post it. I'll have to look around for more poetry by him. I love the nature imagery, I'm a nature fanatic.
