A heavy frost has descended on the castle, looking more like snow has fallen than anything. Yet by midmorning, the frost has melted off leaving quite a muddy trek for anyone heading down to CoMC. The wind is dreadfully chilly so don't forget your house scarf if you're heading out anywhere farther than the castle. Even the lake is beginning to show tinges that winter is rapidly approaching.
The years of terror have begun. At the beginning of the 70's, a whisper spread around the world of magic of a man hungry for power, striving for immortality, and vying to take over the entire wizarding world. That whisper quickly multiplied, and soon the man, going by the name Lord Voldemort, collected a rather sizeable army, and spread terror throughout the wizarding world. Witches and wizards alike were put under the Imperius Curse to execute terrible acts, those who refused to join him were tortured and killed, and the only safe place anymore was Hogwarts, School of Withcraft and Wizardry. No one dared to walk down an empty street alone at nighttime, no one dared to befriend strangers in fear that they were Voldemort supporters, and no one ever wanted to come home to find the Dark Mark looming over their house, signifying that blood had been spilled by the wands of the Death Eaters.
Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts as well as the only person that Voldemort ever feared, spent a great deal of time alone in his office conceiving ideas that could possibly help the wizarding world take a stand against Voldemort. The idea he formulated in those long hours was to create a secret society against Voldemort, called the Order of the Phoenix. The Order of the Phoenix was made out of a wide variety of people, anywhere from wizards to squibs, from werewolves to thieves. Dumbledore believed that in diversity they would conquer, while in exclusiveness, Voldemort would fail.
So Dumbledore began his own recruit, and in the summer of 1977, he spread his selection to a select group of students that were close to finishing their years at Hogwarts, for Dumbledore was a firm believer of the saying that the future lies in the hands of the adolescents. The selected students were trusted with secrecy, and scheduled a meeting just before the school year began to meet as new members of the Order of the Phoenix.
