A heavy frost has descended on the castle, looking more like snow has fallen than anything. Yet by midmorning, the frost has melted off leaving quite a muddy trek for anyone heading down to CoMC. The wind is dreadfully chilly so don't forget your house scarf if you're heading out anywhere farther than the castle. Even the lake is beginning to show tinges that winter is rapidly approaching.

~About Your Character~
What is your character's full name? Lydia MacPhearson
Character's Age? 37
Give a detailed physical description of your character:
Lydia is a relatively tall woman, standing at about 5'9" in height. She has Dark brown hair that comes down to about mid-back length that's generally quite whispy in nature. Lydia wears her hair one of two ways: down and big, flying about every which way or pulled back and up. She has dark brown eyes and an oval shaped face with very pronounced cheekbones. Her eyebrows are quite thin and arched severely. Lydia is a very pretty girl, and usually has a quite mischevious smirk on her face. She's one to flaunt dress codes, wearing things that she really shouldn't, but that are still legal. In other words, oxford shirts (which are legal) but unbuttoned quite far. While one would think that she's bookish, it does not mean that she's reserved by any stretch of the imagination.
There is one common misconception about Lydia MacPhearson and that is that she's a quiet, shy and reserved woman. Truth of the matter is that she's loud, outgoing and quite over the top. Her outgoing nature is probably why she found such an afinity for the Beater position when she played Quidditch on the House team. She still likes to play Quidditch on occasion when she can.
Lydia really is a woman of contradictions. Just when you think you have her figured out, she confuses you. One moment she's drinking firewhiskey by the gallon and partying, the next she's curled up in a quiet library, listening to Muggle classical composers and sipping cuppaccino. When it comes to her books, she's a stickler for rules, but only then. She won't let anyone into the Restricted Section without a pass, nor will she allow students to 'fool around' in the stacks. The can snog all they want outside the library, but once they enter the room, the books are to be respected. Otherwise, Lydia is of the belief of 'be good and if you can't be good, don't get caught.'
Lydia's biggest weakness are her books. She can't resist going into old book stores to search for books just in case she can find an old book very cheap. She has more books in her own personal library than she could ever read in a life time, yet she still buys them nonetheless. Lydia's other weakness is her supposed self-confidence. Though she sports confidence always, quite often she lacks self-esteem and uses her confidence to hide her inferiority complex. She hopes that by pretending to be confident no one will ever find out the truth.
Knowledge is Lydia's strength. She is a fount of knowledge, both usefull and useless. If a student needs to look up a subject, she knows exactly where to look for the book and can usually suggest at least five books that will help the student with their search.
Explain his/her history: Lydia MacPhearson was born on October 19th, 1959 to Ella and Ian MacPhearson of Braemore, Scotland. The couple was a mixed blood faminly, Ella being a witch and Ian being a Muggle. It wasn't until after the couple was married that Ian ever found out that his wife was a witch. It was quite a nasty shock for him, but it wasn't enough for him to divorce his wife.
Out of their five children, only two were wizards and accepted for study at Hogwarts. Lydia's older brother Jon was a Gryffindor while Lydia herself was sorted into Ravenclaw. It took quite some time for Lydia to come into her own as she was always following in her brother's shadow in everything she did, particularly her studies. It wasn't until she stepped onto the Quidditch pitch that Lydia finally made her mark. Her skills as a beater for the Ravenclaw team finally set her apart from her brother and let the girl come into her own.
Now known as a separate entity, she began to be known for her own achievements as well. Her sixth year, she was made a prefect for the Ravenclaw House and was promoted to Head Girl her seventh year for outstanding marks. Lydia finally proved that it was possible to be an athlete and to have time to be booksmart at the same time.
After graduating from Hogwarts, Lydia went to work with the one thing she always had a natural affinity for: books. Taking up a position as a bookseller at a rare book dealer in London's West End, Lydia opened a shop catering in rare books for both Muggles and Wizards alike. She had a fairly successful business and loved what she did. There was something about being surrounded by old and musty books that just made her heart race.
Then, midway through summer she was approached by Headmaster Dumbledore to take on a position at Hogwarts as Librarian as Madam Pince had passed on to the Great Library in the Sky. The position of Head Librarian had been a Dream job for Lydia ever since she had been a student. Though sad she had to sell her business, Lydia was thrilled to become the Librarian at Hogwarts.
Give an example of your role-playing:
Standing in the library, Lydia appraised the stacks of books. It was the start of term and for once, the books were in their proper places and stacked where they needed to be. No book was out of place and there was no book missing: it was the perfect library.
With a smile, she passed by each stack, running her long nails along the worn spines. Even the restricted section was pristine in it's condition. After Madam Pince passed away, Merlin bless her soul, Lydia had been hired to take her place. The Headmaster had wanted to find someone who had loved the Library as much as the old librarian and had found her.
Lydia smiled to the first student who walked through the Library door, giving the girl a small wave. Soon the Library was bustling with students and Lydia found herslef inundated with work. But, it was that first girl that had caught her attention. Over the course of the morning, she had discovered the girl's name was Arian Alsouto by way of overhearing a few conversations.
But, it was the way the girl's eyes kept flicking towards the Restricted Section that Lydia knew she was a girl to watch.
