Master Thom's rooms
Coram and Thom had left their horse and pony with the hostlers, and now Coram was carrying much of their bags himself, Thom only had two. What a sad life he led, looking after this bratty child...
He stopped in front of a door and looked around. "Yup. This is it. Come, child." he told Thom gruffly, opening the door and kickign one of the bags in.
"Hey!" Thom protested, indignant. "That may have valulables in it! You ought to be more careful, Coram," Thom said, a malicious glint entering his violet eyes. "And you really should listen to any warnings given," he added snidely.
Re: Master Thom's rooms'Crap,' Coram was immediately panicky, though he didn't show it on the outside except for a slight sheen of sweat that broke out on his forehead. 'The boy is going to be the detah of me. Literally.' He resigned himself to the fact.
Bowing to Thom, "Yes Master Thom," he chuckled nervously to himself.

"Like, for instance, the warning my sister gave you before you turned us in to our father," Thom said casually as he began to unpack. He acted as if he were only talking amiably to a friend about the weather, but anyone who saw the cruel gleam in his eyes would know otherwise.

Coram paled even further if it was possible and hurried into the attaching room; the one that was designated for the servant of the page. Namely Coram.
"Well Master Thom," he called out once he had safely put a wall between him and the young mage, "It would seem that we need to unpack quickly to go and introduce yourself to His Grace, the Duke of Naxen, who is in charge of the pages."

"But dear Coram," Thom said, "You know even locked doors can't keep me away from you." Thom walked over to the door and pulled it open. He stared at the older man and then, with a burst of violet magic, locked the other door. "You are warned again, you will soon begin to see things. I believe that my sister even warned you that this would happen if you ratted us out." His eyes were hard, and he let go of the other door's magical lock. "Well," he said, suddenly cheery, "We shouldn't keep the Duke waiting."

Coram continued to back away from the manical look in the kid's eyes. Sweat broke out now, in more plac es than just his forehead from beforehand. The backs of his legs hit the bed and he suddenly plonked down, unbalanced. "Yes Master Thom, whatever you say Master Thom." he nodded eagerly. Get this kid away from me!
"I will not rat you out," he agreed. "Now, please, let's go to the Duke's room." he swept past the young noble and then tried to unlock the door. It wouldn't budge. "Master Thom?"

"Oh, sorry," Thom apologized, unlocking the door. He started towards the door, but then stopped.
"Oh, and Coram," he said, not looking at the ex-soldier, though hisa voice dripped with malice, "you already did rat me out when you told father on my sister and me. You might want to consider a replacement for yourself." Thom swept out of the room and into the hallway.

He nodded to Thom as the child unlocked the door. "Thanks." he said quietly. Walking through the doorway he made his way to the outer doorway then suddenly stopped when he heard Master Thom speak again.
His head pounded. "No, no, Master Thom. I did not rat you out." he protested. "Your father is a smart man, and he deducted it himself. He only asked me for the truth. He asked me straightforwardly, and he is my Master above and beyond you, so I had to respond to him truthfully!"

"No, you didn't. And my sister still said that she told you what the consequences would be if she had to go to the convent. You, foolishly, didn't listen to her, and now you're going to have to pay the consequences."

Coram backed away. "I'm telling the truth Thom!"
Suddenly dread filled his body. "What kind of consequences...?" he asked fearfully. He didn't really want to know at all what the consequences were for something that he had to do. Lord Alan was his Master, so he had to respond truthfully! This brat had no right to threaten him like this. He could cause no one any harm or be put in front of the magistrate hismelf! "You do anything," he warned. "and you'll be put in front of the magistrate. We're not in Trebond anymore Thom! There's different rules for the Palace."
Thom smiled at Coram wickedly and said, "No matter how different things may be at the palace, people will only think you're crazy. No one will care, Coram, no one will care. I can put my hand on and off you and make sure that no one suspects. Trust me on this," Thom said assuredly. Then he added, "Let's not keep the Duke of yours waiting, shall we?"
