shooter308 private Posts: 1 (1/4/03 3:31 am) Reply	Need some advise on purchasing M1a I am interested in purchasing a M1a and can't decide on the Scout squad in 308 or a NM in 308. I want to hunt out to 300 to 400 yards mule deer, white tail, and cow elk. I also want MOA or better accuracy. I also want to shoot with a scope. I have a Swarovski PV1 I want to use. Will the 18" brl give me the energy and vol. to hunt with at that range?

The range was approx. 280 to 300 yards, using 150 gr. fusion brand load. Two rounds fired, deer droped within 4 feet past where he was seen. Mule buck was 4 X 4 rack dressed weight 130 lbs. 18 inch barrel would be imo quite acceptable for hunting.
