Wow. Where to start?
Is there anything wrong with associating the word "grunge" to "Nirvana"? Nirvana is without a doubt the most popular grunge band in the history of grunge bands. So what? They were popular for a reason-- people liked them. They wrote music that no one else had heard before, not only that, but they made it known to nearly everyone. Nirvana's sound is the epitome of grunge. Wikipedia defines Grunge as: "As a style of music, it is generally characterized by 'dirty' guitar, strong riffs, and heavy drumming. Grunge is also popularly referred to as the Seattle Sound." Hmm... that sounds a lot like Nirvana to me.
Kurt Cobain may not have been a very good guitar player, but he was a songwriter. Songs from previous times were about "good times" and "living it up" (i.e. Guns N Roses), Nirvana changed it to something that they felt... yes, their angsty songs. Maybe more people could relate to hard times. That, my friend, is good songwriting. Getting a message out to the people and them relating.
And have you ever heard of "influences"? All bands have them. Nirvana may have been influenced by The Pixies, Neil Young, and Mudhoney, but their music was their own. You won't find anything like "Lithium" or "Heart Shaped Box" by the Pixies.
And the suicide. Kurt said he killed himself because he couldn't handle fame. He didn't want it.
Here's a link to the original if you want to read it:

Lastly, Kurt is an idol to me because of:
1. His music
2. That he didn't care if you didn't like him. He didn't care what other people thought of him or his music. He was his own person until the end.
So why do I care if you don't like Kurt Cobain? I don't. What I do care about is this whole thing of lying about him. Before you say Kurt stole music, you'd better check your facts again.
