A heavy frost has descended on the castle, looking more like snow has fallen than anything. Yet by midmorning, the frost has melted off leaving quite a muddy trek for anyone heading down to CoMC. The wind is dreadfully chilly so don't forget your house scarf if you're heading out anywhere farther than the castle. Even the lake is beginning to show tinges that winter is rapidly approaching.
On Language, Grammar and Posting
ON LANGUAGE, GRAMMAR AND POSTING
1. First and foremost, no one liners. They're absolutely useless when it comes to advancing the plot. And, it's very hard to reply to a few lines of text. There is a six sentance minimum to all posts. If you have trouble meeting this minimum, please talk to one of the admins, and we'll help you out. Basically, think of including actions and thoughts, and you'll find your posts will grow in length.
2. Please do not post explicit pornography here, it's offensive in nature. If you feel the urge to do so, then write it down on a piece of paper and imagine that you posted it. On the other hand...tasteful innuendo is acceptable, for example, "They could hear giggles and whispers in the broom closet, and smirking, they walked back upstairs waiting for their chance to tease him about it later."
3. When you post, please use third person past tense. Like so. "Val walked in and sat down." Not "Val walks in and sits down." Or, "I walk in and sit down." Make sense? Good. Also, don't put your actions inside these: :: as in ::Harry walked in:: Hi everybody. It should read: Harry walked into the common room, sitting down in his favourite chair. "Hey everybody," he said, glancing around the room.
4. We expect that all applicants have a decent grasp of the English Language. This includes spelling and grammar. When posts are filled with bad spelling or bad grammar it makes them nearly impossible to read. If you are a horrible speller, you may still join the game, just remember to spellcheck your posts before you post them. Also, we do favour the use of Britspeak as we are playing a game set in Britain. l337 speak and netspeak are NOT ALLOWED IN CHARACTER. If you have to use it on the OOC board, then fine, but keep it to a minimum.
5. We understand that RL can take it's toll and that school work (or work in general) does come first before role-playing. We simply ask that you post in the General Discussion forum when you will be gone and when you'll be coming back. Take the breaks when you need them, but just post you will be gone so we don't think you've dropped the game without telling us.
