Oxymorons
I was thinking today about how much of Andy's humor is funny to me because he juxtaposes two (or more) things that normally don't belong together at all.
The example that came to ~my~ mind was Elvis, singing the "Chicken Cluck Opera" from "Orphan's Benefit," the Walt Disney Silly Symphony short film. Here's this ultra-cool, ultra-sexy guy, in spangled clothes, waving his hips around and curling his lip, and lip syncing "bawk bawk bawk!" It's the oxymoron, the incongruousness of it that makes it funny to me.
A similar example would be the "man eating ice cream" skit, where Andy eats ice cream to prerecorded laughter and applause. The juxtoposition of the sounds of the audience, having a great time, and a man eating ice cream....are so bizarre, and don't "go together" so much...that it's hilarious.

Stephen King's pet peeve is when people ask him "Where do you get your ideas?" as if there were some kind of "idea store" somewhere. He says he tells people "Utica."
But I am really, really curious about Andy's mind...and where he would get an idea to juxtapose things that were so unrelated?
I suppose it could be as simple as that he had the TV on one night while he was practicing Elvis in his costume, and that particular Silly Symphony came on, and he started playing around with the bit...
