Perfect Imperfection
I'm looking at you, smiling at me
My heart in your hands
My soul at your feet
I'm watching you grow, by leaps and bounds
You've got stars in your eyes
Your head's in the clouds
I'm seeing you dream - How innocent your sleep!
Untainted by life's realities
Untouched by defeat
I'm praying to God, for me and for you
That He'll keep you imperfect...
While perfecting you, too.
Quote:Is this a Zen poem or is it about your little boy? I could see it either way.
CC,
I wrote it for my son when he was about a year old and I was watching him sleep. This morning, I woke up with Zach and Kendall on my mind and those words "Perfect Imperfection" popped into my head. The continuation of the Love Story came from there and I shared this poem with them (and all of you) for "their" child. Weird, I know.
