[Pity The Wise. Ignorance is Bliss.]
Imagine a place where the supposedly dark dominate the school. Where friendships forged can last a lifetime, and grudges are seldom forgotten; where broomsticks and wands are just petty tools for magic; where creatures and teachers roam the school and students possess powers beyond simple spells. Elementalists, Necromancers, Psychics and half-breeds of all sorts - each of them tied within a destiny formed from deceit, hatred and love. Imagine this place. . .a place where your wildest dreams can be fulfilled and your nightmares can come alive.
Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: In Real Time.
What we're about (The Main Plot)
It is now eight years after Voldemort's second coming, and five, since Harry Potter has left Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; though the happy ending everyone hoped for had not yet come. The prophecy still unfulfilled, there is now only War, and Voldemort is at the helm. The times are dark, people are scared to walk the streets at night, the Death Eaters are in full swing and an all out battle for the freedom of Europe is well underway. . .but the free are far from winning.
Where we are now:
All seems to be lost now that the Dark Lord is on the move. Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are no more; mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers were all slain during the attacks. The times have grown from bad to worse, and what's more, The Daily Prophet is hyping up a once rumored conspiracy towards the Heads of Hogwarts, nothing that belonged to Carmilla Crowe had been destroyed, including the school itself. "What does it all mean?" they ask after they point their fingers; it means only one thing. The War has begun.
Where do you fit in?
Anywhere you like; this world has been ravaged by the Dark Lord; every family ranging from those living in frigid fjords of the Norse lands, to the furthest of the Grecian archipelagos. It is up to you and your imagination to do what it will. The times of these days only grow darker; was your family one of the lucky? Were they not directly involved with those who had suffered? Or did they feel the impact when He-who-must-not-be-named and his newest companion spread their Evil through the lands? Do not fret; entering this story so late in the paragraph will far from confuse you. Within the boards you will find extensive history of past events outlining main and subplots alike; its easy access allowing you to take your time to build your character to your liking.
What else do we offer?
Individuality: Those of us at Hogwarts: In Real Time are all for it! Original characters and personal goals for that character are greatly encouraged. Not only does this RPG use the world J.K Rowling created to its utmost potential, but it also boasts a flawless merge of original high fantasy concepts. “Elementalists, Necromancers, Psychics and Half-breeds of all sorts” That was no joke, and once entered into our world you will be able to find, view and use these works created for our hybrid world; namely our own Monsters Compendium, and Encyclopedia which allows you to create a character on less rigid terms. Here at Hogwarts: IRT the setting is never in stone.
Personal development:
A lot of us here at Hogwarts are aspiring writers (or at least we like to think ^_^) and use role-play not only as recreation but as a challenge, for ourselves and for others. My goal with this RPG was to create an environment where people could experiment with their (usually) exceptional ideas, and in doing that I also tested my own creativity which started the circle I originally intended. This is a community and communion is encouraged, we want feedback from everyone, we want to debate ideas,. This RPG is not about stuck up webmasters indulging themselves in personal gratification; that is an equal opportunity. This process only helps us grow and over the years receiving awards from Prestigious Role-play communities such as The RPG Gateway and being asked to create a Virtual Television show for the accredited PVT (and one of us a real original concept television show) allowed us to realize that being here has done far more than we ever fathomed and that whatever effort we do put in will be returned. So no matter what level role-player you are, as long as you have a desire to learn and better your writing, we welcome you with open arms.
Fun:
As outlined many times, this is a high fantasy hybrid, we want wacky and zany ideas, this is a magical setting, what can’t happen? The rules are set of course, but again here they are never in stone and whatever J.K Rowling left out, we can insert. If that isn’t enough, we’ve also a fully functional and original Quidditch system created by one of our own many years ago, this too is a fully flexible system that allows maximum RP despite its luck based (di-rolling) system. Live lectures are also a feature (Which is where the ‘In Real Time’ add-on originated) as well as a very friendly, outgoing community who love to eat…err, meet new faces.
Equal Opportunity:
Not only do we accept Students, but all people from all walks of life that should reside in the wizarding world. In our new Project, Life to the Wizarding World - we intend to do just that. Create guilds, operate the Ministry and allow Diagon Alley to burst to life. We want evil's, aurors, parents, shop owners, anyone and anything to create the world we all live in. So if you don't want to be a studen that is fine, there is plenty for you to do otherwise. You'll see.
You don’t even have to be a member of this RPG in order to reap some of its benefits. There are plenty of ways to have your voice heard; namely in our opinions section entitled Sonorus, where you can tell us your opinions on various Role-play related ideas. We want to hear these from any and everyone from all sorts of role-play communities, to help better ourselves and even each other.
Wait! I’m not done. If you have your own RPG there are also some free goodies and an awards system (The Order of Merlin) where you can get a constructive outlined view from a fellow game owner. Good times for all!
