Post-Partum Fatigue- Can I get a quote?
Hi everyone!

I'm writing an article concerning post-partum fatigue and how women can better deal with it. Anyone here who has had a child, can you tell me how you coped with the feelings of exhaustion? Did exercise help you? I'd appreciate any and all input available. My e-mail address is faerydancer0 at yahoo dot com if you would like to make your response private. Thanks so much!

Best,

This probably won't help you, but I have to brag on my husband. He was absolutely great.

Having a supportive spouse has to be the best help. Many years ago, when our twins were born my husband was great. Nothing cooked for supper? no problem, he'd throw something together. Our daughter need some attention? She could go to the game with him (he was a teacher and had to work some ballgames).Out of diapers, again (pre-disposable diapers), he could, and did, wash them for me. For the first couple of months I was force-feeding the babies, every three hours. I didn't have time for anything else. My husband did it all for me. Once they were doing better, he watched them so I could go to town, just to go to town.

When our daughter was born my mom came and stayed with me. Too bad she wasn't much help. Her going home allowed me to relax and enjoy my baby.

It has been 18 months and my little one still wakes up several times a night. Parenthood is challenging, particularly when your hormones are wonky and you aren't sleeping. What has kept me sane during the trying post-partum period (immediate and long term) is taking time for myself--even if it is just a walk to clear my head-- while my husband sits with the kids. If you don't make yourself a priority, particularly post-partum, you will go off the deep-end eventually.

I had post -partum with my first daughter and my biggest piece of advice is to have people around. The more family and friends the better. Being alone only makes post-partum worse.
Hope that helps!
