A heavy frost has descended on the castle, looking more like snow has fallen than anything. Yet by midmorning, the frost has melted off leaving quite a muddy trek for anyone heading down to CoMC. The wind is dreadfully chilly so don't forget your house scarf if you're heading out anywhere farther than the castle. Even the lake is beginning to show tinges that winter is rapidly approaching.

What is your character's full name? Samantha Diandra DuSoren
Character's Age? Twenty seven
Give a detailed physical description of your character: Samantha is quite thin, though not enough to reveal an excessive amount of bones on her five foot, six inch frame. Her skin is pearly white, with a very faint freckle on her left cheek which is, by far, the only visible freckle on her body. Vibrantly red, large lips compliment her strangely deep blue eyes that hold a ring of black around the rim. The short, ebony eyelashes fan out with meticulously placed clumps to add to the jagged edge around her brilliant eyes.
Sam's bleach-blonde hair ends a few inches above her shoulders, set in large curls influenced by 1920's fashion that fade from a dark gold at the bottom to a brilliantly bright white at the part. No matter what event, be it a windy day or a natural disaster, will a single strand of Dia's hair move out of place... or suffer the consequences of another sticking charm. Her perfectly plucked and shaped eyebrows, though darker than any other hair on her head, don't appear to be obviously different from the natural honey hue across every other strand. The thick curls that grasp the sides of her thin face and brow that tapers to the exact degree deemed acceptable gives Samantha a feeling of perfection about her face.
Partial to 20's style, the DuSoren collection of robes resemble female swing dancers' dresses. Low cut, light and thin in dark shades, the robes are usually mistaken for being robes at all. She has a love for gloves that extend past her elbows and antique jewelry in the shape of large rings or long, stringy necklaces. Despite her affinity for old looks, Samantha's been able to wear more contemporary clothing given to her by high ranking witch designers for a kind article or two.
Describe her personality: Insane. Not insanely happy, like our dear Professor Elensar, but insane in an entirely different way. Samantha could quite possibly be just as happy and enjoyable as a light version of Meirdoc, but can also shift her mood to a slightly more pleasant Professor Snape. There's no telling when the mood swings could kick in, but they're often quick and gone just as fast as they came. In general, Sam's personality is often cool and composed before it moves from one extreme to the next, making her appear mature and much more in control than one would think.
Biased could also be used to describe another point in Sam's disposition. Who wouldn't sway towards giving their own old house a few extra points here and there. Though she doesn't have a known grudge against the Slythering house, she does have a tendancy to suddenly become deaf to their answers or blind to their raised hands. One would think that her hatred for the certain house could have started because of a Slytherin girl named Delilah, who managed to slip a small serpent into a potted plant of hers. To this day, she despises both types of snake.
Explain her history: Samantha was born during a very confusing time in her family, since her mother learned about the wizarding world just before she gave birth to her daughter. Sam's grandfather came to the delivery room in an attempt to have the baby born someplace other than a muggle hospital and accidentally transfigured the attending doctor into a walrus... It was later discovered that Grandfather Bailey had a bit too much Firewiskey to drink beforehand.
Needless to say, Fern and Wilfred, Sam's parents, argued with one another in many of her earliest memories. Most of the arguments were about whether or not Samantha would be able to visit Bailey or not, while others were disputes on why Wilfred had no magical ability at all to contribute to making life easier. In the end, she was allowed one month of the year to enter the wizarding world and learn as much as she could from her grandfather, a retired herbologist. During one of the months spent with Bailey, Samantha received the letter of acceptance to Hogwarts and soon became a part of the magical world forever.
Content as a young Hufflepuff without a worry in the world, Sam didn't participate in Quidditch or many other extra curricular activities. She spent most of her time knee deep in mud doing extra credit for Herbology, her absolute favorite subject. The spark of interest was enough to make Samantha study about the many strange magical plants that the muggle world had never even seen before, and sadly, unaware of their useful qualities. Half way through her career at Hogwarts, Sam's family inherited an enormous fortune from Bailey, who had gained the Galleons from his patented use of Hillassien twigs as a Honeydukes candy preservative.
Even though she didn't have a need for a job, Sam chose to join Witch Weekly as a journalist upon graduating the school of witchcraft and wizardry. As an Herb and Root Columnist for the magazine, Samantha wrote articles about the uses of different home-grown plants in ways to increase the beauty of one's skin. For slipping in the names of different top designers, she would be sent thank you gifts of dress robes year before their debut in any stores. The job, though fun, didn't compare to beeing back in the dirt with the plants she loved, but while skimming through the Daily Prophet for the fashion section, she happened to see an opening for Herbology Professor at her old school...
Blood Type: Quarter blood, her father's father was a wizard but her own father was a squib. Wand Type: Fifteen and a half inches, willow and a unicorn tail hair. Designed with elegantly smooth bumps for each of her fingers to have a proper holding. Extremely thin and as pale as ivory, good for Transfiguration.

Sipping on a cup of pumpkin juice, Sam quickly walked down the editing hall of Witch Weekly. Several witches jogged through the halls with sheets of parchment in their hands racing for a deadline, while groups of imps clogged areas during their wait for an interview.
"This is warm! I said I wanted ice cold!" She shouted, barging into her office reception room and tossing her mug of pumpkin juice at the stunned secretary before slamming herself shut inside the office.
The room would have been mistaken for a jungle, if it hadn't been for the green carpeted floor and bits of wall that peeked through the human-sized leaves. A mixed scent filled the air from the various types of plants that Samantha needed to go over before her next article, samples of plants sent by wizards who claimed the juices from the leaves stopped aging completely... with a side effect of melting skin in some cases.
A few minutes later, Sam's secretary poked her head through the door, holding a glass filled with ice and only a tiny bit of pumpkin juice. The young secretary indeed looked terrified, making Sam think about her little outburst earlier.
"I'm sorry about that, Elizabeth..." She said, taking the glass of pumpkin juice. "Why don't you take off the rest of the day? It's the least I can do."
