Promised bio today, but full of questions! Help!
I had an essay accepted by an online mag. They asked for a bio. I have never done one. I assume it needs to be short, like the ones I've seen at the end of magazine articles.
What do I say? The only publishing credits I have are two poems, but that was over ten years ago. Do I name them? Or do I just say I am a poet? Or published poet?
And when the time comes that I get something else published, do I mention in my new bio that the mag credit is online?
Also, now that I will have a current publishing credit, but it is online, when I send out a cover letter with new submissions, do I mention that, or just name the mag? What I have been doing up until now is saying "I have had three poems published, but that was over ten years ago."
And if I query mags who require clips, how do I send a clip of an online publication? Do I print out a copy and send it?
I will be watching closely for replies. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
