If the chat USA Today did with Sasha Cohen a few weeks ago is any indication, this one should be very
interesting. Scott just might give a few more details
about this year's SOI show or mention Kurt a few times
during the chat, too.
The complete Scott chat transcript is now online; click on the link in my last post to check it out.
No direct mention of Kurt during the chat, but but Scott did post a bit more information about this year's SOI show, how the guest star skaters will be incorporated into the show this year, and some interesting thoughts about pro skating.
I must admit Scott's one of the last skaters I would imagine saying (or typing out) "I love the ISU" with a perfectly straight face, though!
Re: Scott Hamilton Oct. 13 USA Today chat
LOL ... I posted a comment about the new judging system on one of the larger boards a while back (FSU, I think) that mirrored part of what Scott said here. It's the integrity of certain judges, not the entire system, that's the problem! Lots of people are dancing around the issue ... Scott's comments are dead on! Bullseye!!
Re: Scott Hamilton Oct. 13 USA Today chat
I was surprised that he didn't answer more questions and each question/answer didn't appear for a while, but the questions he did answer were great!
If skating isn't the answer, you're not asking the right question!
Re: Scott Hamilton Oct. 13 USA Today chat
Scott answered one of my questions, however he was quite vague:
Johnston RI: Hi Scott, On the Stars On Ice site I read that you and Christopher Dean “have created the thought-provoking show theme of “TIME” for the all-new 2004 season. With infinite meanings through the use of specially designed lighting and sound effects, visual images, words and music, and innovative choreography, the production promises to propel the audience into a myriad of emotional moments that are sure to last forever.” Can you give us a little more of a hint on what to expect? (Thanks Eddie)
Scott Hamilton: It's cool. It's worth checking out. We're taking the show in a new direction. It's bringing a new type of creativity to SOI. The show has always been the most beautifully produced show.Last year's choreographers won an Emmy for SOI. We just felt that in the current climate of skating we needed to inject a new energy and production quality. That's why "Time" was created. Our faithful audience will like the new look and the general public will enjoy a great evening of entertainment.
