Some of my favorite bands of 2002
I got to see and hear some great music this year, so I figured I'd list some highlights:
- Foo Fighters put out a great album that rocked in the way that only they can. Dave Grohl is a genius [also, check out his killer drumming on the Queens of the Stoneage record Songs for the Deaf]
- Living Colour is back and played some mighty fine shows. Watch for their new album, coming out in 2003.
- Grey Cell Green is one of my favorite local bands. They've got a great thing going - go see them.
- System of a Down is the only national act that one could lump into the "nu-metal" crowd that has anything original to say, both musically and lyrically.
- The Screwdrivers are really hitting on something with their sound. Another local act I love.
- Stone Temple Pilots put out one of the most underrated rock albums of the year with Shangri La Di Da. Buy it and you'll see why.
Some other acts I'll list: Base 2, The White Stripes, Swivel Hips, Nadir. All worth checking out. There are more, but I'd be here all day...
Agree with most of those especially the almighty Living Colour--I saw them at Toad's place with some lame local act opening the show hehe it was a great set.
I'll throw in some other underated stuff:
Joe Bonamassa's So Its Like That was an excellent album and Doyle Bramhall and Smoke Stack's Welcome went un noticed but was excellent as well.
