The Hallmark Skater's Championship
I'm glad to hear that it will be held this year, but it seems that they are starting to promote it awfully late. The skater line-up isn't even set! SHEESH!! Are they setting this event up for failure or what! Anyway, I found this over at MK Forum. GrandmaBrenda posted found the ad for the competition on the back of her new BOI magazine!

i didn't think they were going to hold this event this year, someone on the kurt list said they weren't planning on doing it anymore, but maybe they changed their mind. this is like the equivilant to the world pros... right?

I asked about this on the Kurtfiles list and IMG officially confirmed the event was cancelled last week. I guess someone just forgot to take down the page on that other site (and I wonder how many people have called that number for tickets for an event which has been cancelled).
I don't know how they were able to put an ad for this event in BOI when it was never officially confirmed and no skaters (to the best of my knowledge) were officially scheduled to compete at the event. Sounds kind of misleading, IMO...
I'm hoping IMG will still change their minds and hold this event after all--it would be nice to see at least one good old-fashioned non-team pro competition this season--but right now, it doesn't look too likely.

yeah I heard they cancelled it because of World Team Challenge which is also the reason there is no sears open. I personally I loved the sears open but I'm sure the event in Vancouver will be just as entertaining

Really? I'm not sure why this event would be cancelled because of the World Team Challenge since that event (of course) will be a team competition while this one--from everything I've heard about it--would have been an individual event like the old World Pros competition.
Like I said before, it would have been nice to see at least one non-team pro competition this season, but it's definitely not going to happen this year. Hopefully things will be different next season, though!
