The best of the best makeup
For those of you who indulge in makeup, what do you stand by?

I love Bonnie Belle eyeliner in black. It's really soft so it goes on easy, but it doesn't sweat off. I also have a pencil of it in dark blue with silver glitter.

I also adore Wet n Wild's fine loose glitter. I have a pot of silver, and all you need is a little moisturizer on your lids, and that glitter STAYS. I know, I've put it to the test. Sometimes it's even around after a shower, but hey... it's always nice to sparkle.

I'm just starting to dig Maybelline's wet shine diamonds lipstick. It doesn't dry my lips up.

I buy my eyeshadow from here: www.readytopick.com/ I don't know if they're still running or not, as there was trouble between the owners. But the eyeshadow takes a lot of beating before it starts to "gather". It's also in so many cool bold colors, and I love that.

Re: The best of the best makeup
erm... well, I'm no good at eyeliner (still trying to teach myself, and I'm 22 for gods sake...)

I'm not much of a brands person as such ... I just buy things I like the look of - I have found a very good blue lipstick by bourgois, but they don't seem to do it any more... I've got some good rimmel eyeshaddow too one of the two tons of purple in the same box ones. - up until christmas I was using the same big pack of eyeshaddow that I got when I was 17 with about a million different colours in, but I decided that that was getting a bit unhygenic, and seeing as I only ever used the purple and grey I'd buy myself some more!

I got some good silver stuff, but I haven't got the hang of it quite yet - it's a liquid-sludge one, rather than powder!

Re: The best of the best makeup
I am never without my Cover Girl mascara. Waterproof, as I often see sad movies and cry a lot, hehe. I was introduced to it when in modeling school waaaaay back when. It's cheap, sold everywhere, but has never done me wrong. Granted, if I want a really big, full, theatre-actor style eyelashes I need to use something else, but for day to day wear, this is what I reach for. And I've tried tons of mascara, recently Estee Lauder, and wasn't impressed. Why did I just pay $25 for something my $6 Cover Girl can do?! blah!!!

Re: The best of the best makeup
I've waited to answer this, mostly because I'm a make-up addict and have two full kits of stuff, as well as some overflow for doing other folks. I wanted to narrow down what I thought was truly "the best".

The stuff that I can't live without and would have to find replacements for if something happened:

Revlon Shine Control Mattifying Makeup in 01 Ivory - perfect foundation for my skintype with good coverage, nice texture, wonderful staying power, and excellent at living up to the shine control promise *without* looking chalky or mask-like.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Line Minimising Powder in Light - I've discovered that Line Minimising powders are a bit more finely milled than the usual, so even though I'm pretty light in the line department, I'm committed to them. This comes as a compact but I use it with a dusting brush - floats just what I need onto my skin without looking cakey or packed on. The texture is like silk, and it can be modified for light coverage or heavy, depending on what's needed.

Maybelline Brow Powder in Dark Brown - I don't tint my brows to match the black that I dye my head, so this stuff is great for filling in the bare spots, giving me a smoother brow line, and making the difference between my brows and my hair a lot less noticeable.

L'Oreal Le Grand Curl Mascara, in Black (or Dk. Brown, or Black Waterproof) - Despite how good the basic Maybelline Great lash has treated me in the past, this does something I love - it does help lashes to not be quite so straight. It won't hold a giant curl without using a lash-curler, but I don't care for that, anyway. I love that I don't need to use a bunch of it in order for my lashes to pop a bit more than they usually do.

Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Black - just your standard automatic pencil eyeliner. Not perfect (sometimes it gathers up in the corners of my eyes), but better than most and, most importantly, doesn't irritate me. It definitely has good staying power along the lashline. There are potential replacements for this, but it's a favourite that I'd rather not do without.

For colour and decoration (glitters, bindis, and such), I basically follow some basic rules that can be applied to any line:

My skin must behave when I use it.
The pigmentation/texture must be good.
I need to be able to use it more than once in 6mos (I fail this a lot even when I'm convinced I won't, so it's not such an important rule)
Make sure that it's not something I could achieve with something less expensive (another thing I fail a lot, because sometimes you just don't know)

Re: The best of the best makeup
For eyeliner, I have this waterproof one from Revlon. One of those ones with a thick foam-rubberish brush that sells for a stupidly high prices. Anyhow, this stuff is a GODSEND. When they say waterproof, they mean it. I've dug my fingers in my eyes trying to get rid of that eye-lash that wandered from the flock and this stuff held.

Despite the watering and the fingers smudging, nothing happened. At the end, I had some of it on my fingers, but the actual pattern that was on my eye lids didn't budge. I'm half conviced the stuff is half kevlar.

On another note, whilst browsing through my things: I have 78 different bottles of nail polish. I'm all out of black. If there's a god, he hates me. Luckily, I've got enough silver and shades of purple to last a decade.

Oh no... nailpolish. I swear, I have at least 100 bottles, and I almost never wear the stuff. It doesn't dry fast enough for me, even the quick-dry ones. I'm always fucking it up and getting it everywhere.

I think the last time, I had Revlon Top Speed in Zoom that I wore to a wedding in August. It's Barbie pink and looked smashing with my little black snake-skin-print dress.

Re: The best of the best makeup
For liquid eyeliner: I use L'Oreal Lineur Intense (waterproof, good for my very watery eyes...I've been wearing this brand for over 10 years I think)
Mascara:the classic Maybeline in the pink tube.

Although I normally use pencil eyeliner now: the cheaper the better (ie wet & wild)
but I really love those really fat eyeliner crayons, that have a different color on either end....yay smudgyness

Lipstick:I like max factor and estee lauder (cause the smell reminds me of my mom)

I don't usually wear foundation but I do have some in stick form.

Now for my embarrassing confession:
The perfume I wear at the moment is....
Jlo Glow
(I swear it doesn't smell like Jlo, it smells like summer rain)

Ugh! Wet n Wild eyeliner, even after a good stint with a lighter, does not GO ON! I end up nearly poking my eye out trying to get the damned stuff to make a nice line.

Then again, I go for dramatic lines, and not the natural look.

Re: The best of the best makeup
I have blue ,silver and brown wet and wild pencils that work really well. The blue and silver smudge well, and the brown is good for subtle stuff.
but it's true the black ones do not give desired effect and they make my eyelids feel all hurty with the pulling and such.
And the white ones are useless

I am soo loving my Makeup Forever sparkly "shine on" powder eyeshimmers! I try to use them as sparingly as possible (which is easy since they are so amazingly adaptable) because they are expensive..

www.sephora.com/browse/pr...inate=true

That link only shows two of the colors - they have an amazing teal, and several different colors of pink and white and gold.. drool..

Re: The best of the best makeup
I am a make up whore. For my birthday I treated myslef to 300$ in M.A.C. make up last year.

I swear by M.A.C. and I love the black eyeshadow named "carbon". It goes on really dark. If you use an eyeliner brush and dampen the tip the eyeshadow goes on really smooth like an eyeliner.

M.A.C. is good for me 'cause other than black I like to use really vibrant colours... right now I'm really into peacock colours of teal, green, brown and dark burgandies.

MAC is great especially for eye-shadow. Their eye-shadow is the only brand I've ever seen that lets you use multiple colors that don't just blend to that greenish-grey-last-of-all-your-playdough colour. The stuff goes on, stays where it's supposed too, and doesn't budge/mix. Great.

And I've still yet to get off my ass and buy some more black nail-polish.

Re: The best of the best makeup
I have to chime in and say thank you Bath and Body for roll on glitter.

I love adding glitter over my goth make up. Bath and body has a line of makeup called Art Stuff. Everything in the Artstuff line envolves glitter of some kind. My fave though is still their roll on glitter. I have the blue and the purple which is berry and strawberry scented. The stuff goes on easily, doesn't take my base off when it does and stays on all night. If for some reason it does come off it is really easy to roll back on.

I also recommend Urban Decay's bright blue Mascara. I love that stuff. I remember growing up in the eighties and looking around the make up area's they had BLUE mascara. I couldn't find it after that whole rap thing took hold in america. Then low and behold Urban Decay makes one. I guess it was just ment to be.

When it comes to eye liner I have a few different kinds. I have a white and a blue one that are theatrical make up. They go on and don't smudge. Beauty! The white takes on any color of eye shadow you put over it but still remains brighter then the over lay for a great effect. When I was working as a sorter for Salvation Army I came into the possession of a grocery sack of Mary Kay beauty samples. I have an endless supply of jet black and other colors of eye line and lip liner. There were some interesting colors of eye shadow too... Finally when I am doing the purple and blue thing I have a bright purple eyeliner that is also from Urban decay. I was disappointed though, its really hard to apply. I usually have to try several times to get the eye liner to go on dark enough to be noticable.

With lip colors I try to stay away from the black lipstick because I have never found a really good one. All the ones I have come in contact with are waxy, don't go on right or you have to apply a base of something for it to stick too. So I go for near black. At Sally's beauty supply they carry a line of lip stick with this great dark purple called pearly grape. I love it. I swear by it. The lipstick is perfect, just sticky enough but still smooth. I have yet to find a lip liner to match it though. OH WeLL!

That is all for now.

Well I haven't worn make-up in a year. But when I did. It was always. Covergirl Pale ivory Foundation. Pale ivory powder. Black eyeliner for eyes, eyebrows and lips. That was for Goth clubs. For Glitter Rock clubs. I always went blue lipstick and loads of glitter. My friends would get these huge cans of spray glitter and I would twirl around in circles while they sprayed. It was a lot of fun back in the Club makeup days.

ohohohohohoh - roll on glitter - this is the best thing ever (and you can take it out and attack people with it, and glitter their noses!)

EEE!!! Must find some soon, then!

Of course, it never goes on thick enough for me, so I will stick to loose glitter for myself.

Attacking people with glitter sounds like fun.
