Personality: Thom is basically antisocial. He doesn't like to be around people, and would do anything to get away. However, he stays because he wants knowledge, and he believes that if he stays around people enough, and listens he may get some knowledge off of them to store in his mind and use later.
Thom would rather be a great mage than a page, and only came to Corus because his father made him. He would much rather be where his sister, Alanna, is and learn magic than be learning the art of war. Thom likes to read, and also can imitate handwriting well.
Thom is not always a confident person, and his small amount of confidence can be shattered easily. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing because this makes him cautious and doesn't get him over-confident. The only thing he's confident about it his magical capabilities. He is also very self-centered and doesn't always care about the feelings of other people.
Thom will remember anything and will hold grudges for long periods of time. He may pretend like he's made up with someone only to be working slowly against them, and hurt them most when he's got their full trust. He's sly and sneaky and will do anything for revenge. If he threatens you, then, though it may seem empty at the time, Thom will eventually carry through on his threat.
Background: Thom and his sister Alanna lived with their father, Lord Alan, in Trebond since they were born. Their mother died before they could meet her and they were largely ignored by their father. Eventually, Lord Alan decided to just send them off to make something of themselves so he wouldn't have to deal with them.
Thom and his sister learned magic from the healer Maude. Thom always wanted to learn more, but she did not really know much to begin with, so he was stuck with only a taste of what being a mage is like. While Maude taught the twins to use their Gifts, Coram was teaching them how to fight. Thom didn't like these lessons, as he disliked Coram and it bugged him that his sister was better at it.
Physical Appearance: Thom has a small button nose, thin eyebrows, short lashes, straight lips and high, angular, noble cheekbones. He's 4 feet, 8 inches, thin, and doesn't weigh much. His coppery red hair is calm and wavy and cut short. His eyes are wide and innocent and violet.
Strong Points: Thom is really good at magic, storing knowledge for later use, and getting revenge. Even without much training, Thom's Gift is really strong and ready to do anything.
Weaknesses: All things to do with war (excluding magic). Being small and not very adaptable to the art of war, Thom resents being sent to the Palace to be a page (and later a knight).
Magic: Thom has a strong violet use-for-anything Gift. He can do almost anything with his Gift (with the right training), but is the worst at healing, just as his sister is best at it. His strong magical points are the abilities to see into people's minds and sometimes he can see the future (accurately, though he may misinterpret it).
Pets: None.
Sample Post: Thom rode through town on a borrowed pony. Coram rode beside him, a look of disgrace on his face. Thom knew he was mad because Alanna wasn't the boy and that all he had to show off at the Palace was some scrawny boy who couldn't even lift a full-length sword. His sister could though, and Coram hated that she wasn't here.
Judging by the downcast eyes, Coram was angry at himself too because it had been he who blabbed that Alanna and Thom had switched places, and Coram had not liked the game.
Thom's violet eyes went down onto his pony's mane as he remembered his meeting with his sister in the garden the night before...
Alanna was pacing uncontrollably. Her hands shook as she turned to face her brother. Her eyes were apologetic. "I'm sorry it didn't work," she said.
Thom grunted, and stayed silent from his place on the bench.
"Told him what?" He grumbled, as though not really listening. But he was.
"I told him that we'd do to him what we did to Lady Catherine and the cook. I told him!" Alanna turned to face him, her eyes bright with anger. "And he didn't care! He plain and simple didn't care if we made him see things!"
As she continued pacing, a mischievious look appeared on Thom's face and he was grateful for the darkness that cloaked most of his features. Alanna wouldn't have liked to see that look...
That same look appeared on Thom's face now as he eyed Coram again. This was going to be fun...
Yay! *cheers* We have a Thom, finally! Okay, well I play Alanna, your faithful, temperamental sister. *bows* And I don't RP like this, if you're wondering. LoL.
If you needed anythign to say for the history and magic, you can always check out Alanna'a bio. I made up some stuff, and I think ti would be best to know what I made up.
Re: Thom of Trebond *unfinished*
Looks good! I will move it, and you can start playing. I've been NPC'ing Thom in 'grounds' for about two posts, so you can continue there or go somewhere different, it doesn't matter.
Re: Thom of Trebond *unfinished*
Eh...humm...I was reading the first Alanna book last night and I found that Thom's gift works to see into people's minds and sometimes he can see the future...would you mind if I edited that in?
