What a day striper fishing yesterday
Yesterday was just one of those perfect days, great fishing weather and fish that agreed 100%. Pete and I were on the water at 4:30 and headed north out of Scituate Harbor. Weather was overcast and threatening rain, tide was high but the outgoing current was moving and the wind was light out of the SSE. In 5 minutes we were at the first ledge, in a series of about 15 making up my striper "milk run". After breaking the ice with a couple schoolies, I let Pete take the trolling motor and decided to stroll a live eel.....just had a feeling. Oh what a feeling, because a few minutes after hitting the water a 30lber (see bragging board) took the eel and put up one hell of a fight.
That was just the beginning as I proceeded to catch 51 stripers, all on my 7 inch split tail plastic jerkbait, with 1 more nice one coming on another eel. The 3rd ledge we hit about 5:30, we caught 15 stripers on 20 casts and in less than 20 minutes. That was just how the day went, every place we hit had good numbers of actively feeding stripers. Had one other 20 lber on a jerkbait, which came unglued right at the boat and several other nice chunks.
Pete ended up with about 25 fish himself, he's #2 and still trying harder. Sorry Pete, just had to throw that in there, lol. Just one of those perfect days, man I love it when a plan comes together.
Tight lines.
