Why Anna Espinosa won't be on Alias anytime soon Got this this morning off AICN: Wednesday morning’s Variety reports that Universal has greenlit the big-screen “Firefly” movie for a June start and a 2005 release. (Recall that, back on Feb. 10, Coaxial News reported a May start and a late 2005 release.) Title of the film is “Serenity.” Series creator Joss Whedon is scripting and making his feature directorial debut. All the actors appear to be aboard. According to the article, “Forthcoming pic is set about six months after the TV show left off, and centers on two passengers on board the ship who attract trouble to the crew.” Oddly, the story mentions all of the regulars returning but Alan Tudyk and Ron Glass. Perhaps the reporter’s fingers got tired. Personally, I would have gone absoluetly nuts with joy if they could bring back Gina Torres for a few guest shots, but now that she has this going on... well, we can only hope that MAYBE they can coax a few days out of her schedule to come back to the show. *edit* forgot to include the link to the story in case anyone wants to read it and link to the Variety story. Cool. I loved the series FlireFly. It was ashame it was on Friday night, the graveyard of TV.

Re: Anna Espinosa? In season 1 there was a agent for the K Directorate named Anna Espinosa. She seemed to be a worthy adversary for Sydney. I didn't see her in the season 2 DVD set. Has she been seen again? Even thought the K Directorate fell apart, she could be still out there somewhere. Am I the only person who'd like to see her return? |

Re: Anna Espinosa? Ummm... how do I say this without sounding TOO degrading... The actress who played Anna Espinosa is Gina Torres. She was offered one of the lead roles in Firefly, and thus wasn't available for the second half of season 1 - and no, she wasn't anywhere in season 2. The reason for the original posting is because, well... you're NOT the only one who would like to see Anna Espinosa return. We just have to hope that they can get her on some off days from filming the movie Firefly so she can come back to the show for at least one episode. Barry |
