~About Your Character~

What is your character's full name?

Willem Romney Biederman

Character's age?

Fifteen, born December 7th, 1981.

Give a detailed physical description of your character:

Broad-shouldered and sinewy, Willem Biederman stands an average five feet, seven inches. He weighs in at an ideal 148 pounds - a fair size for a fifteen-year old male. His body is tanned a golden-brown, and his skin is clean and healthy.

His face is oval and lean, with high cheekbones and a firm jaw. His features, excepting his straight, wide nose, are fine and soft - aquiline, bordering on feminine. He has a generous mouth with full lips, unsmiling, but turned upward at the corners. There is a pinkish glow to his cheeks that lends to the image of a young child - an image that is quickly erased by his eyes. Dark blue, with long eyelashes, beneath light, angular brows, they appear humorless and cold. His hair is dark, dirty blond, clopped close but still heavy with curls, and always kept neatly combed.

Willem has a slender, slightly muscular torso and long arms and legs - the body of a runner, to be exact, with feet that are surprising well-proportioned to the rest of his appendages - something that can not be said for the majority of the teenage population. However, his hands are large, with long, slim fingers and square palms.

His dress of choice, when he isn't wearing a set of impeccably clean school robes, usually consists of clothing that borders on the professional: starched, long-sleeved white shirts, clean, dark trousers, a black leather belt, and a pressed jacket.

Even when retiring to bed, Willem looks as though he has never experienced the horrors of dirt in his life. His pajamas are impossibly clean.

He rarely, if ever, appears unkempt.

Describe his/her personality - including fears, hobbies, interests, habits, strengths & weaknesses:

Publicly, Willem is a quiet, well-mannered, thoughtful boy with a pechant for cleanliness. His hygiene is usually impeccable. From the age of nine, he has the appearance of one who is obsessively clean - even if it meant washing his hands nine and ten times in a single morning.

He is squeamish in potions class when it comes to dicing ingredients, and usually does it with a disgusted grimace. He keeps his clothes washed and pressed, his hair combed, and his teeth brushed.

He has a better-than-average intelligence, and a good deal of common sense for a boy of fifteen. He knows how to save money, and what to do with it once he has aquired a fair ammount.

He has a short fuse, and has a tendancy to snap at people when his studies leave him feeling pressured; he isn't quick to laugh - in fact, in public, it has sometimes been doubted that he has a sense of humor at all.

Privately, however, he is a prankster and a slob. He has an unnerving habit of wandering the hallways in the boys' dormitory in his boxer shorts, and leaving various belongings on beds and chairs in his room - shoes, socks, books, and the like. He has been known to drive his family members mad with this tendancy.

He can be quite loud when needs be, and he has a very twisted sense of humor. He takes a particular thrill from watching a practical joke bear fruit, and has privately decided that Peeves is a comic genius.

His family is very important to him; he enjoys spending time with his brother and Christina, though he finds Otto to be a bit egotistical at times, and will not hesitate to give him a good swift deflating.

Willem's hobbies include earning money and reading - though, publicly, it can be assumed that he enjoys bathing and washing his hands, as well. He loves being with his family - his brother most of all - and will set aside time to do so when he isn't at Hogwarts. His favorite books are a collection of fiction murder-mysteries by Sal Gatlin - a series that can be found in Flourish and Blotts for a very reasonable price - and a series of compilation prank pamphlets that can be found at Dervish and Banges for an even more reasonable price (these he keeps stashed in the bottom of his trunk.).

Of course, he also enjoys playing pranks on his peers - and not getting caught for it, mind you - and watching the ensuing chaos.

However, he can, when the situation calls for it, be very serious, no matter who is or isn't around him. There are just certain things which must be faced with a serious attitude - money, for example.

Willem is afraid of quite a few things: getting dirty, Professor Lupin, losing the money he has managed to save, Professor Lupin, getting caught, Professor Lupin, werewolves, Professor Lupin...

In Defense Against the Dark Arts three years ago, he was perfectly fine with Professor Lupin, who seemed to know the subject particularly well. Now, with Lupin's species exposed to the world at large, Willem is extremely nervous, to the point of jumpiness, and will rarely speak out to answer questions.

He is also rather nervous around members of the female sex. He regards them as a man might watch an interesting, but very dangerous, new predatory species - they're nice to watch, but no one in his right mind would go within ten feet of them. Of course, that doesn't stop him from fancying those dangerous, interesting predators.

Willem's weakness is that he can't pass up playing a prank. It's almost as though he is drawn to the chaos that ensues, that the sight of complete disorder is such a sharp contrast to the order in which he keeps himself that he simply can't resist.

He can, also, on occasion, be very paranoid - though this has been a great strength at times. He doesn't like to get dirt under his fingernails, he thinks the Slytherins are all planning to thieve from his stash of money - kept hidden beneath the lining of his trunk - in the middle of the night, he's terrified that Lupin won't take his potion one month and will head straight for Willem and bite him, and he's quite certain there's someone in the school that's out to get him for being a halfblood.

Willem is very two-faced, interested in hiding his private self from the world at large and thereby saving his own skin. No matter how much he loves his family, he always looks out for one person first and foremost: Willem Biederman.

Give the names of all members of your character's immediate family:

Brother (Twin) - Otto Renfrew Biederman
Sister - Christina Biederman (10)
Father - Heinrich Biederman (45)
Mother - Lowri Barlow-Biederman (42)

Explain his/her history:

An Auror in Germany, Heinrich Biederman was recruited to transfer to London in 1978 to aid the Ministry of Magic in their efforts against a leftist group that had been steadily gaining ground and rising to power in support of a man calling himself Lord Voldemort.

One night, Heinrich and a partner cornered two known Death Eaters who were wanted for questioning involving the harassment of a group of young muggleborns. The provoked men turned on the two Aurors, sending Heinrich to St. Mungo's with a series of well-placed hexes.

Heirich's nurse was Lowri Barlow, a muggleborn who was then on twenty-four years of age and would, within a year, become his wife. He settled down with her in Pembrokeshire, Wales, after aquiring a permanent employment with the Ministry of Magic.

On December 7th, 1981, when she was twenty-seven, Lowri gave birth to Willem Romney Biederman - blue-eyed and blond haired from the start, and completely silent save for a small snuffle or two.

The Healers were about to leave the room when Lowri began to have contractions again. Willem was followed, surprisingly, by Otto Renfrew Biederman.

By all accounts, Otto bellowed enough for both boys.

Heinrich, although loving as a husband, was, unfortunately, at a complete loss when it came to being a father. Naturally, then, he assumed a formal, aloof attitude toward his young sons. He was never abusive - he didn't drink, and when he spoke, it was always rational - but he wasn't one for showing his feelings to the children.

The two boys got along well enough - their fights concerned, for the most part, which toys belonged to whom, who was taller on any given day, or who could sing more loudly in German.

Toys and clothing alike were shared between the two - their parents were middle-class, after all.

When the boys were five, Christina Biederman was born.

The boys grew up skirting around her, teasing her for being a girl, pulling her hair and pinching her arms until she cried - but Heaven help any other child that tried to tease their little sister.

As they aged, Willem and Otto began to develop striking differences. Willem became engrossed in ways to earn money, which he would then squirrel away and save. His grooming habits took a sharp upturn at the age of nine - he would avoid playing outside unless forcibly removed from the house; his favorite "play-area" was the bathroom sink when it was filled with soapy water.

Lowri thought it was a bit strange, but only voiced her opinion once.

If Heinrich though anything of it, he was decidedly quiet on the matter.

When the boys were ten, they received their letters to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Willem read the letter over like a businessman perusing a contract, folded it, and slipped it into his shirt pocket. He had then proceeded to tell his mother that he would need money for a wand, new school robes, and books. An owl would not be necessary, but would be very much appreciated.

Lowri had stared at him as though he had lost his mind.

At Hogwarts, Willem had watched as the sorting hat was placed on his brother's head, and Otto was placed in Ravenclaw.

It was a good house, and Willem was glad Otto was in it. That meant he would be a Ravenclaw for sure; where Otto went, Willem went.

But the Sorting Hat had other ideas. Slytherin ones, to be exact. It had, for a moment, debated placing him in Ravenclaw - he had a quick mind and a sense for education - but in the end, Willem was ambitious. Very ambitious. After all...what sort of nine-year old boy horded money in the stuffing of his mattress if he didn't have a veritable wealth of ambition?

Willem found himself in a house full of backstabbing, sneaky, cruel-minded snakes, with a Head of House who was no better than the rest of them... but it didn't matter. He was a Slytherin, so he would do what a Slytherin does best: Plot. Scheme. Climb the ladder, socially, economically, and politically. Slytherin was just chalk full of minor-league politics. He disagreed with their self-serving, biased views, and was very firm in his decision that he wouldn't be changed by his stay at Hogwarts.

He kept his parentage quiet, however. There was no sense in allowing himself to be singled out for having a muggleborn mother.

As the years went by, Willem found himself more and more disgusted with the way things worked in his house; his peers showed such an obvious support of Voldemort - a paradox in terms for a house whose members were thought to be sly and cunning. The boy had decided from the start that Voldemort, his followers, and anyone who cared to fight them, was a complete and utter fool. Let them slaughter each other - when they were done, all that would be left was more occupational opportunity for Willem Biederman.

The problem was, Willem was becoming exactly what he had set out not to be: a Slytherin. He was interested only in preserving and advancing his own hide.

Wand Type: Mahogany, 14 inches, Dragon Heartstring. Excellent for Dark Arts and their Defense, moderate for Transfigurations.

Blood Type: Halfblood

Student's Year: Fifth
Which house would your character prefer? Slytherin
Why? Although intelligent enough to be considered for Ravenclaw, with a sense of humor befitting a Hufflepuff, he has no loyalty to anyone outside of his family circle, nor does he think things through. His fears and chronic bouts of paranoia sets him as a person who distrusts many, and he therefore would not be a fitting Gryffindor.
It takes a fair ammount of sneakiness to pull off his pranks, and he has to be very conniving to keep from being caught.
Willem is a monetary hoarder. He wants more, and better, and it doesn't matter what it takes to get it, though he hasn't sunken so far that he forgets his morals. The person that comes first is himself.
He is very two-faced, and will always do what is best for himself.

Give an example of your role-playing:

Willem stared down at the ingredients on the table before him, a disgusted grimace on his slender face.

Did he really have to do this?

After a moment of squeamish debate, he grasped a paring knife and set to work, gingerly lifting a caterpillar from the pile and slicing it into quarters. He tried not to notice that the caterpillars were slimy after the first cut, but failed spectacularly.

Oh, God, this was disgusting...It was getting on his hands...under his fingernails...on his clothes...

He was going to smell like a potion all day...

Dumping the finished product into his cauldron, Willem bolted for the stone basin and shot his hands under the water, all the while fighting the gorge that was rising in his throat. As he scrubbed his hands vigorously, he wished for, above all things, a bar of disinfectant soap.

He hated this class...oh, how he loathed it. The class, and Professor Snape. Mean, greasy, Arsch mit Ohren.

And that caterpillar stick was going to linger for days. He just knew it. No matter how many baths he took, he was going to smell like an apothecary.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm reviewing the situation.
I'm a bad 'un and a bad 'un I shall stay!
You'll be seeing no transformation,
But it's wrong to be a rogue in ev'ry way.

Sorry about the wait ladies, but accepted. :3

And promise me they will never see
The tears within our eyes
Though we are men, with mortal sin,
Angels never cry...
