Word Travels Fast
Special Agent Michaela J. Taylor sat at her desk, poring over her usual medley of bureaucratic investigations, clutching a gold Cross pen her father had given her at her graduation from the FBI Academy, engraved with her initials, MJT. Of course, they were her father's initials as well...
A knock was heard at the door, and she looked up to see an intern holding a few pages off the fax machine.
"What is it, Greenley?" asked Taylor, looking up from the paper mess on her desk.
"That gun that was found in Beverly Hills.." Greenley started.
"So what, a mailman found a gun, happens all the time.." The USPS, being a quasi Federal organization, reported things like that to the FBI all the time.
"Well, the LAPD want it. I asked a few questions, and evidently, one of the people involved, is a former Special Agent.." Greenley's obvious concern was departmental embarassment.
Taylor notched an eyebrow. "Someone we let go?"
"Someone who let go of himself. A Steven Brooks..." Greenley offered the dossier to Taylor.
She didn't reach for it, she knew most of what was on it. And what the dossier didn't say, about their torrid affair during their attendance at the Academy. "He's straight, I knew him from Quantico..." Michaela said, leaning back. "Did we give them the gun yet?"
"Not yet, it's still being run through."
"Good. Have it turned over to me, and let the officer in charge of the investigation know I am coming.."

Jimmy looked at the fax cover sheet. Since when did the FBI care about a random firearm? Flipping through, he took a quick scan of the ballistics information revealed by the FBI, which was basically the make and model of the weapon.
9mm. Beretta. M92F. McKenna was investigating a victim killed by a 9mm. Liam Sutherland. This would be bad news. Dalton Sutherland would shit a brick if he found out the FBI was getting involved with a LAPD case.
Walking down the hall, and into the homicide squadroom, he found McKenna at the coffee pot. He held the fax in his hands. "Cole, the FBI got a 9mm out of a mail drop box up in Beverly Hills...Do you know anyone up there who might have a beef with Liam Sutherland, and carries a 9mm?
