"You're that powerful?" Cythera asked, in awe. "I wish I had the Gift... What's your twin like?" she wondered if it had been wise to change the subject so quickly before Kat had gotten a chance to answer her first question.
Re: Breakfast, February 17
"Pretty powerful stuff you've got there. I have some plants magic, I can talk to an animal here and there but nothing worth mentioning.
I tried pretending I was dead and then when they went to bury me, I knocked out the guards, dragged them into a ditch and joined a band of players disguised as a boy." She said casually, it wasn't a big deal to her.
She waited for Alanna to answer the other questions as well, she could be polite when she felt like it.

Re: Breakfast, February 17
"You- you-" Cythera's face looked as if it was battling over whether to be shocked or impressed. "What was it like?" she asked finally. "How did the catch you?"
Re: Breakfast, February 17
"Holy crap!" For once Alanna didn't care for her surroundings. That...that was - amazing. Only one word for it. Doing stuff like that was what Alanna had only dreamed of. "How - how did you do that? Wouldn't they ahve sent a healer to check if you were truly dead or not?" she asked the first question that came to her mind. Alanna was relatively a quick thinker, but this... 'Wow.'
In her surprise she forgot about Cythera's question compeltely. If the girl wanted to ask the question again, she could.

Kat shruged. "I pretended to slit my wrists in front of the guard and they sent me off immediately, they said it was too shameful to even bother a healer about it. I'm working on my next escape plot though."
Kat wondered why it was such a big deal. "You look like someone who would try that, yet you sound shocked." she stated.
Re: Breakfast, February 17
"Would you try it?" Cythera asked Alanna, wide-eyed. She was somewhat uncomfortable to be around Kat- the slitting of wrists, even if it was only pretend, bothered her somewhat. But mostly, she was fascinated with Kat's tale, and wanted to hear more of it. And although she tried, she couldn't really understand why anyone would want to give up life at the convent. It was what everyone did, wasn't it? Everyone accept boys and commoners...
Re: Breakfast, February 17
"Slit your wrists? Wow." Alanna sounded awed but she was somewhat disgusted. Did everyone hate the convent so much? 'Well if everyone hates the convent, then I'm going to like it. I refuse to just be one of the crowd. Stupid really, to be like everyone else. And, plus, I want to please father, and horrify Thom with tales of how we have to sit proper and eat daintioly and everything! she snickered inwardly.
"No, I don't think I would." Alanna replied evenly. "I haven't even been here long enough to have an opinion of it. I'm going to give it a try. Some of these classes might be fun. Liek mathematics and reading/writing. Even if we don't do a lot. And magic." she sighed dreamily.

Kat shruged her shoulders. "Suit yourself, but eventually, the Convent will get to you." She thought about her comment for a moment. "That was a bit melodramatic, so much melodrama, so little time." She sighed. "And trust me, most classes are not fun."

"I will suit myself just fine, thank you very much." Alanna snapped angrily. Her temper was finally showing through, she hated this girl's careless manner.
"And what is wrong with the classes? I think I shall be the judge as to whether or not the classes are fun for me or not." she glared, then turned back towards Cythera. "What is your favourite class?" she demanded, still slightly annoyed at Kat.

Re: Breakfast, February 17
"Umm..." Cythera pondered, hoping that if she ignored the tension between Alanna and Kat that it would go away. "I like etiquitte. And they give us time where we can just... I don't know, do anything we want. That's probably my favorite. I can sew, or work on my embroidery."
Alanna thought hard for a moment. "Ettiquette?" she pondered, trying to trace around a thought inside her head. "Oh yes. I think I have ettiquette as my fourth class. Hmm..." she took a piece of bread and bit it softly.
"All I know about this place is my class schedule and where I sleep - though I'm not sure I'll be able to find it again." she added sheepishly. "They gave me a piece of paper with my classes written on it in weird - yet legible - writing, and then rushed off. Busy people. I have introductory first thing on the 6th, then dancing, then Spoken Languages, Advanced. Then I have riding, then ettiquette of course. Then... I can't remember." she frowned. Oh well.
((Oh, Lioness? I had an idea. How about we make a list of each class that each girl takes? And each page I guess too.))

Alanna nodded enthusiastically. "Yes. Riding. Can't wait to start; though I don't think Chubby - my little pony - will be suitable for the type of riding I think they do here. All this elogent stuff and whatnot. Chubby is - well let's just say he's not exactly the most graceful or swift horse around - that's being nice." She stated, eyes wide. "I'll need to go look for a new horse - I'll send my father and ask him if I could have some coins to buy one. Wait. Are we even allowed to go to the market?
"Music? Hmm...I think I might have that on my schedule. I might be able to play an instrument, but maybe not. I certainly don't think I'll be very good at my Singing classes though - yet I've never really sung before."

"Singing's not that bad," Cythera said. "I've never been that good at it myself, but you sing along with everyone else, so no one really hears you at all. I'd like to take riding," she added wistfully. "I wonder if I could send home for a horse... And I'd need to ask the Daughters to add it on to my schedule." She paused to eat another bite of her bread before answering Alanna's first question with her mouth still somewhat full.
"They let us into go out into the City once a month if we're good and haven't done anything that makes them think we'd cause trouble," she informed Alanna as she swallowed the last of her bread.
Re: Breakfast, February 17
"Well I guess I'll see how good I am at it when i try it." Alanna sighed. "Well that's not too far away." she groaned and smiled at the same time. She was looking forward to going to classes, yet dreading them all the same.
"What are the Daughters like?" Alanna queried after Cythera had mentioned them. She needed to know all about this place.
"Okay, good." she responded to Cythera's answer to her market question. "So if I'm really good, and I send a letter to father right now, I can have a new horse by the end of the month. If you wanted, you could share my pony with me for riding classes...if we don't have them at the same time?"

"The Daughters..." Cythera paused, pursing her lips in thought. "Most of them are nice, if you try hard enough in their classes. They take it as a personal compliment if you do. And the rest of them are just strict. Not that bad, but they expect you to work very hard and everything. Would you really let me use your pony?" she asked hopefully, doubting either of her parents would really approve of riding lessons enough to send her a horse all the way from Elden."
Re: Breakfast, February 17
Jennifer padded into the Dining Hall, like every morning. Noticing a girl who looked rather new with fiery red hair, she sat down beside her. Filling her plate, she waited impatiently to finish her conversation with another girl.

Re: Breakfast, February 17
Alanna coughed. "Well I guess I don't want to get on the bad side of the Duaghters then; I'll have to try very hard, especially at the beginning. I want to make sure to have a good impression on them, and them on me."
Alanna thought back to how she tried ever so hard to impress her father. He did notice her, often it was, and he was most always proud of her whenever he did notice her. But a lot of those times she never saw the fully-proud look of a loving father upon his daughter. She saw it fleetingly a few times, but just that made her want to see it more. He often noticed 'her' as she was 'Thom', and she saw it there all the time.
Alanna sighed, then perked up as another girl sat down beside her. My, lots of girls in here right now as opposed to earlier, when she first arrived!
She quickly responded to Cythera. "Of course I'll let you use my pony! Though be warned, Chubby is a bit...Chubby, but he's better than nothing! He can still gait well and smoothly enough for riding; I made it here didn't I?" she winked. Turning to the other girl, she nodded her head in greeting. "Hi."

Jennifer turned from her meal to Alanna. "Hello! I'm Jennifer, another captive here at the convent. Call me Jenni. Are you new?"

Re: Breakfast, February 17
Cythera looked accross the table at Jenni, wondering if the comment had been to her or Alanna. She decided to answer for both of them. "This is Alanna, and I'm Cythera. She just arrived, and I've been here a month. It's very nice to meet you," she told the older girl.
