Re: Composer Gender
Actually, Mozart's sister (anna) played the violin and composed almost as good as her brother.

You were born an original, don't die a copy. I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory. "The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they'll be when you kill them." "I do whatever the voices tell me to. It depends on who yells the loudest." "You know how to use that thing?" [Pointing to the sword] "Sure. The pointy end goes into the other guy." -The Mask of Zorro *~Schizophrenia beats being alone~ *~I don't suffer form insanity, I enjoy every minute of it~* I am a freak! I know this! I accept it! I revel in it!

In response to all this composing discussion, feel free to check out my website at www.jasonrico.com
There is a page where I post midis every now and again at www.jasonrico.com/midis.html
If you see anything on the main page you'd like to hear on midi or play (hint, hint), e-mail me at jason@jasonrico.com and I'll try to fulfill your request =) Thanks!

Re: Teach me!
Regardin the theme of this thread, I am male and I've been studying piano since the age of 5, now I am 22 years old, near to the 23. My first attempt to write a song was at the age of 7.

composition...
well, i'm a female who gives other composers a bad name.
i only really do compositions for school... and normally i find them really, really hard to do. this one has been flowing pretty well.. till now(see the topic i put up earlier)! it's just not flowing anymore...
i personally don't think you should have to be forced to compose... or write poetry, for that matter, because it has to flow. if it doesn't flow, you're not going to get anywhere except angry and frustrated.
also, about the clefs for tenors... it's easier to put bass and tenors on the same line (bass clef). that's how it always is in the choir music i've sung! (i sing soprano, alto and tenor parts.) most tenors i know wouldn't even think that a treble clef with an 8 on the tail existed!

ahahah!!

I'm a girl, and I made a subcription in the montreal university and the montreal conservatory, and in the two cases, the girls are very rare.. I'd say one student in composition out of a fifteen is a girl... can someone explain that??
