****Hearing Meric's name, Noah stands from his seat and carefully places his book in his backpack and retrieving his staff befor approaching the other two. His voice is soft yet not quiet as he speaks "Greetings fellow adventurers, I am Noah. I believe we have a common interest." He turns to speak directly to Erwyn "I presume you are the bishop's man here to brief
us?"****
Erwyn looks over the man standing afore him. A sturdy looking fellow, with an air of intelligence about him, "Well met, Noah. I am Erwyn Valacar, and this is my companion Xavier. But alas, I am afraid our wait continues for I am not of the bishop's cloth, but merely a concerned friend. Please join us while we wait." Erwyn motions to Xavier to make room at the table for the newcomer. When Noah is settled Erwyn remarks, "I have not seen you in here before, are you from these parts??"
Re: The Adventurer's Guild 2E Campaign archives
**** As he took his first sip of ale, he was jostled by a large (and
clearly
clumsy!) human with a huge scimitar slung on his back. He watched the young man head over to a nearby table and start an animated conversation with another, smaller human. He recognized the smaller man as Erwyn, a warrior that had taken some training at the military academy where Bram used to work. At a table near Erwyn's, he noticed a half-elf (half an elf too many, according to Bram's deceased father) put down a book and also take interest in the conversation between the two human warriors. Bram rose from his table to approach Erwyn and his loud companion, perhaps to share a rumour or two, while waiting for the Bishop's representative.....*****
Erwyn's focus turns from the newcomer half elf to a short figure walking toward the table. **this definately is not the emissary.....hold on I recognize that.....** "Bram, it has been a long time my friend." Erwyn exclaims as he gets out of his chair and offers it to the drawf. "This is Xavier" pointing to his friend, and "Noah"
pointing to the half elf, "I introduce Bram Battlehammer. Are you going to be joining us??"

Hey everybody :
Intro for Adso :
Intro :
The sun had faded hours before Adso and Hylor ventured out into Narbo's streets. Although seldom tardy, Adso's concern for Meric outweighed his normal concern for promptness. Any source that could have waylaid the Paladin and his companions must be formidable indeed. If the Bishop is willing to assemble a search party and provide advance coin for expenses, he must also be very worried.
At the moment, preoccupation overrode general caution for Adso. Luckily, Hylor warily watched all that moved, which was not more than a gentle breeze and a few of Narbo's citizens. Hylor and Adso approached the Falcon's Rest Inn. As Adso steps to the threshold and heavy oaken door, he pauses. As he has often done over the past day, Adso questions his readiness to take on the Bishop's task. Steeling himself, he pushes open the portal and quickly scans the inn. As he removes the hood of his brown robe, firelight falls upon Adso's jade green eyes and short auburn hair.
"We are late," Adso comments to Hylor......
Re: The Adventurer's Guild 2E Campaign archives
Adso halted, just before he stepped in the Falcon's Rest Inn. Light flowed forward, promising a warm welcome to all who entered the hospitable inn.
All, except Hylor, whom the light did not reach, as he was behind Adso, standing in the shadow of his brother.
"I HATE symbolism..." he muttered under his breath.
"We are late" noted Adso.
"Tough. They can't do anything without you, so they'll just have to wait."
replied Hylor with a true, but somewhat tactless, comment. Most of his comments were like that, though.
They entered and looked around for any sign of the search party. Hylor spotted them fairly quickly; most patrons weren't wearing robes, wielding crossbows or...
Hylor raised an eyebrow. An oversized scimetar?
Ok... that's it 4 now. Adso&Hylor have finaly arived, boys, time to get this
quest going!

Erwyn, not before placing a well aimed smile in Noah's direction, stands and places a calming shoulder on his large friend's shoulder. He looks at the newest arrivals and recognises Adso. "Ahh so you are the one chosen to lead this party. I should have figured. Please tell me that you have some more insight into what happened to our Friend."
Erwyn scans the now more crowded tavern looking for a suitable place to discuss the impending quest. "Perhaps we should go somewhere with fewer distractions...."

Adso replies, "Yes I do think that it is time to discuss business. Perhaps we should retire to a more private location ? Our rooms perhaps ? This area is too crowded and I would not want to alarm anyone who happens to overhear our conversation. I would also not want to offend anyone with the group's, um, exhuberance."

Hylor snaps out of the vision he just had. It involved him meeting an untimely death because he was surrounded by incompetent airheads who kept bragging about their weaponry and chopping eachother accidentaly to pieces.
"Uhm... What? Ah, yes. Yes, we do seem to attract some degree of attention here. Perhaps retiring to more private ground is the best. One can never be sure who overhears us."
With those words, he looks around the inn once more, looking for any suspicious individuals, but comes to the regrettable conclusion the most unusual persons nearby is the search party itself.

Re: The Adventurer's Guild 2E Campaign archives
Sorry about the delay in the post. I was sick in bed on Tuesday, and away for work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Could everyone please put the date and time in the subject line of their posts, since I am working with an older E-mail program, that can only read text files. So, here goes.....
Bram looked over the assembled group of adventurers. He remembered Adso as the quiet young priest that had occasionally attended the dinner meetings between himself and Meric. He also remembered Erwyn as a warrior that had previously trained at Aghar's Military Academy. He had never seen the other three before. He could definitely see the physical resemblence between Adso and the unknown frowning warrior. The large, clumsy fighter with the huge scimitar was definitely going to be a handful. Lastly, the half-elf in robes, bearing the staff, was likely a person of magic.
"Good to meet you all, unfourtunately under such difficult conditions.
For those of you that don't already know me, I am Bram Battlehammer, lately of Aghar's Military Academy. Given my past experience at leading warrior squads, and until we know what we are up against, perhaps it is best if I were to take the lead of this group as well.
"I met Meric when he was attending the Military Academy early in his career, and I was his instructor in the mace. He and I became fast friends, and we agreed to come to each others' aid if it ever became necessary.
Thus, my primary goal in this task is to see Meric safe. I expect the rest of you to share this goal. I agree with the suggestion that we retire to a more private location for further discussions, as you never know who might be listening."
Bram nodded to each member of the party as each introduced himself. Then he arose from the table, gathered up his gear, and asked the barkeep if there was a quiet back room the group could rent for the remainder of the evening.

Noah nods and speaks out of turn, cutting Bram off decisively. "Your logic is sound Adso, but only a fool rushes in." He doesn't exactly LOOK at Xavier, but you are sure that the name is forefront on his mind. "I suggest that we discuss tactics as well. I want us organized should we encounter opposition. Too many times has a good spell been wasted because an overzealous comrade could not stay his blade for a moment more." He pauses for effect, then continues "I also suggest that before we speak anymore of this in a public place that we take care to make sure we are not being spied upon. I would like us all to reach dear Meric in one piece."

I'm a ranger-in-training, you know, so you have noooo reason to worry about me doing that... Caution is one of Erwyns major 'pricniples', right Erwyn? And I always listen to him. Erwyn gives Xavier a frim glare, "You are correct my friend, patience is important, however, so is attentiveness." Turnig back to Noah, "I appologize for his interjection, Please continue."
"I suggest that we discuss tactics as well. I want us organized should we encounter opposition. "I belive that we would all agree that is our major goal." Erwyn scans the assembled group, then continues, "Adso, how far away is this temple and in what direction. Just wondering to determine the amount of provisions required for the journey. Also, what kind of adversaries are we likely to be running into??"

Adso takes a deep breath. "The temple is approximately 10 to 14 days travel time from the town. We will need adequate supplies for the journey there and back, plus exploration time. As for opposition, the only details I have are to expect resistance from evil preists and servants of the evil one. We should arm ourselves accordingly. The Bishop has provided us with some coin for equipment."
Re: The Adventurer's Guild 2E Campaign archives
From Bram:
"I agree with what everyone has said. Noah, do you havve any way to determine if we are being watched? I would hope that the innkeeper would have provided us with a secure room. If anyone has a way to check for watchers, it might be worthwhile doing it now.
"With respect to tactics, there are some standard conditions that can be set before we journey, such as marching order, ready weapons and spells, etc. that we can set up when we are ready to leave. What other tactics did you have in mind? If you have specific tactics that you want to see used in specific situations, then we should discuss that now. Erwyn, your outdoor skills will certainly come in handy during our travels out of doors.
"To outfit ourselves, we will likely need one month's food each, as well as portable shelter. I will try to acquire some silver ammunition for missile weapons, and Adso should try to acquire some holy water, as well as healing. Does anyone have animal handling, in case we need to use pack animals? This will depend on whether we will be following a well-travelled route, or heading through the wilderness. Pack animals certainly make it easier to carry gear such as tents, camp supplies, etc.
"I would suggest that we spend the evening discussing equipment and strategy, outfit ourselves in the morning and get on the road before mid-morning.
