亲爱的rachel,我觉得canon50D是很够啦,我的20D用得也蛮好的,最近我一般都喜欢用数码卡片机,出行轻快多啦:)
至于镜头,我请教了一下我的朋友bryan,他回答如下:
canon d50 sensor has a 1.6x field of view crop factor, so the 17-40mm lens effectively becomes 27.2-64mm lens for a full size sensor's field of view. the wide angle end is good, the telephoto end is a bit short. then it also depends on your friends shooting style. for me, it might enough since i'm not so into telephoto shooting, but again, it all depends. another factor you need to take into account is that if you do wind up choosing a lens with long telephoto, it'd better have some kind of stabilizer, it makes your shots several stops better. f4 is a bit slow, but not too bad, and if you crank up iso, it's usually good enough, and for beginners it's not worth spending extra money on a f2.8 lens, let along the extra weight.

Thanks a lot. In fact, I am such a dummy that I have to search the web to see what does "Telephoto" mean!
Since I am not much into Telephoto shooting, and I do have an antique Canon 35-70mm lens home. I think I will stick to the 17-40mm this time to use when I need to shoot wide angle. I agree that f2.8 lens and 5D are really overkill for me. So I will buy the 50D and f4 lens.
I do have a Canon EF 50mm F1.4 USM lens for portrait shooting, I will highly recommend this lens. Gotta practice more on the ISO adjustment in the future too.
BTW, checked Amazon prices and Taobao prices, surprisingly they are the same. Will ask Sherwin to buy them in Beijing then.
