on asking for dates or writing poems
"dis-concerted" by these namings and
astounded by the non-finished un-certainties
of his words
the "stick man that i am"
hurls silences into noplaces
for a call

to be heard (amazed!...) by you:
".... please leave your message after the tone"

(not exactly happy, but a 'not-so-desolate' poem by me ... well, maybe. )

I really like the parallel you drew here ... the similarities of the "non-finished un-certainties" of the two -- waiting and hoping for the words or for the voice.

"the "stick man that i am"" intrigues me ... I wonder what brought that image to your mind ... if you don't mind sharing the process.

"hurls silences into noplaces
for a call
" -- I can relate to that on many levels!

Great one, Iunk :butterfly

it's something i've said for a few years: "doing that make me feel like a stick man." About situations where you have no physical or emotional life - working consecutive 100 hour weeks in the software industry for six or eight months at a time comes to mind. (Also i think i just wanted to de-construct myself a bit -for once! - after framing "me and my band," whatever, up so big on the last thing i posted.... )
:dark

but that image also recalls a yeats bit, come to think of it ....

An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress

:(
i wasn't really thinkin consciously of that - or even of being old ;) - but i read yeats a lot as a teen-ager.

Thanks for explaining the "stick man" genesis ... I understand what you mean ... my mate has had some "stick man" times in his life (he has been the sole income earner for most of our years together, and with three kids sometimes that requires stick-man hours).

That's a chilling image.
