passage of the week
i really like this weeks 'passage of the week'
it really makes me want to read the book!!! i really like beagle's writing style and that's just a short passage....must go buy a copy and finish LOTR trilogy asap! *hangs head for not having already read the book*
Yeah, it's one of those passages that I had to stop and re-read over and over. He has a lot of sentences like that, that just kinda haunted you.
Minty! I stopped reading LOTR so I could re-read it this past week, lol! I said to myself, I should finish these LOTR books before I read The Last Unicorn...but I couldn't resist!
In my opinion....and don't kill me, but I don't like Tolkien's writing style. I LOVE the story, and I agree that it is a classic, but I kinda go more for the flowery language Beagle has. Beagle has more character development in just the 200 pages or so of his book, than Tolkien has in all three of his.

I realy like Beale's work. It flows so well and is so descriptive .
I need to go buy a new copy of the book now.

I agree with you Panis. As much as I love Tolkien's story, reading his books is sometimes like slogging through thigh-high mud. It was so wordy sometimes it didn't really hold my attention.
Then again, it would be unlike me to read a book all the way through without starting another book halfway though.
