star gazing Well, the great thing that came out of the blackout is no lights therefore no light pollution and you get to see a lot of stars instead just 7. So, along with my brother and sister, we went outside, took a sheet, and lay down for hours just looking up. It's just such a magnificient sight, so beautiful

Re: star gazing
That's awesome Eddie. One of the first things I thought of with the blackout was that in New York people would actually be able to see the stars. It was amazing for me when I moved to the area I'm in now ... I had been in the city (not "big" city, but city enough for a lot of light pollution) all my life, and when I moved to a rural area the stars were so brilliant. My first night in this county was the first night either I or my mate had seen the Milky Way galaxy with our own eyes.
I'm glad you got to gaze at the stars -- you and your brother and sister will probably remember that night for the rest of your lives. |

Re: star gazing Yes, I can see a lot of stars just from my yard. I usually go outside late every night with the dogs for a few minutes before bed and stargaze. It's pretty cool to see Mars so bright in the sky. |

Mars Attacks! oooh, Mars is the closest it's ever been in our lifetime, it's really quite substantially closer! So, get outside, and look for the red planet! taoboy
